At least this is something that can be fixed with code, while the stupidity of human drivers is forever haha

I hope we'll soon see single seat driverless cars that are about the size of velomobiles or the podbike.

PS: A while back my PC would start up in the middle of the night for shitty windows updates and wake me up. Things like that can REALLY make you cranky or angry.

Sure. But loosing the money to fund development surely won't help, will it? My point is that there is a real danger here. There are other forces at play which is why you have the chrome dominance already. Long term firefox will fall behind if not maintained. There really needs to be a push to finance firefox or alternatives.

Or imagine if more and more websites "require" some new web protocol to prevent ad blocking, or use of DMCA against browsers or addons altering websites as "web apps". This is another problem that cannot be solved through individual responsibility.

But Firefox is about to loose it's funding because google is a monopoly lol

"Kids, when you see someone talk about the climate catastrophe or rebellion, report them immediately!"

I know this is a bit of a shitty take, but there just isn't a fix for shitty information constantly streaming in. As long as we allow some insane people that think maximizing profit above anything else to own the means of communication, things are going to continue to get shittier.

This sounds like a unjustified callout and a bit of an ad hominem. He doesn't argue against tools for dissent, but specifically against Signal and recommends matrix. link to post

Any communication tool that requires you to personally identify yourself through a phone number and is hosted centrally in the US is not good for dissidents.

Maybe the EU should pass some regulations that require hardware manufacturers to open source the drivers for power saving on linux?

How is the situation for modern desktop hardware like Intel 12000 series or AMD? Is there any problems there? I'd like to build a low power desktop PC with linux that can still game.

There is zero evidence of his guilt and a ton of evidence why these allegations were made for profit. Both by the accusers and the media. It was basically a cottage industry.

The FBI raided his house multiple times and found zero evidence of child porn, only adult porn. He never slept in a bed with the kids.

During his trial they would interview witnesses with allegations, then when the defense showed that these witnesses were lying or could disprove them, the press was already gone. Ran out to telegraph the latest juicy tidbit. And then they acted surprised when he was judged innocent.

Reading that blog after all those years having those false allegations and rumors in my head was really shocking. He was innocent and cruelly persecuted because he was a weirdo.

PS: The problem that you can also see in this thread is that for years we got these news bits are rumours drip fed through the mainstream press. Nothing was ever substantiated and no refutation by MJ was ever printed. It was entirely for profit.

If you ever wonder how the MAGAts could ever go so crazy, read the above blog and realize: We've all been had at one point or another. You cannot make good decisions when you're constantly inundated with lies.

Good video. Crazy people, they seem like they've been completely brainwashed through social media. Unfortunately it's always easier to spread lies and appeal to the worst emotions than to argue complex topics and use the truth.

These are seriously dumb people that have no humility and have been agitated through social media. This is the result of negligence managing and regulating social media, the education system, constant lies and misinformation by the neoliberal elites that erode trust and post modernist ideas that every opinion is equally valid so only strength matters instead of truth. This is going to get worse in the future as technology and propaganda techniques improve.

You can't build a civilization based on greed and expect a different outcome.

PS: There are some really great comments by counter protesters who point out that a root cause of the refugees is exploitation and escalating conflicts in those countries.

The NYT shows the texts included a nice bit of misogyny. I'd say what a piece of shit Trump is, but he even let an aide write those texts haha

“RINOs” — Republicans in name only — and that Mrs. Adelson’s late husband would never have tolerated that, the people said.

I really wish there was a non-profit or coop or public utility like replacement for amazon and ebay. Yeah you need a website and infrastructure and warehouses but this is becoming so fundamental to our economy that it's not good to let this "rent seeking" to continue. Make it a fair marketplace that is democratically controlled and optimizes for customers and sellers and workers instead of for shareholders. There is no need for amazon or ebay to exist.

Similar to paypal, all they did was make wire transfers easy. At least I can finally wire money immediately in the EU without extra costs making paypal and their tax on the internet economy superfluous (damn lazy banks!).

Governments ignoring ecommerce as a vital infrastructure has created these completely useless plutocrats.

PS: Sorry for the tangential rant lol

I'd argue that weird isn't being used as an insult, but to state that the bullies are in fact not representing the norm. They are outside the norm but pretend to be normal, they insist on being normal - which makes it weird. It's not an insult to us, but it is an insult to them. Which makes it funny.

Fascists believe in inequality based on identity, while we kinda thought we had this already sorted that we all believe in equality now. Like all people created equal. But their need to define an identity as superior and then attacking anybody outside the norm is being used against them. And it IS weird to do that, most people simply don't care if you're a little weird. We still have to learn to be more tolerant to more weirdness and not react with biases or irrational emotions. Respect weirdness.

So weird isn't being used as an insult but as a way to rob them of their power - their attempt to define a new normal. And their arguments and attacks against anyone else are becoming increasingly bizarre, less founded in reality, absurd claims. Comical. Weird.

There is the metaphor about slowly cooking a frog without him noticing, shifting the overton window. Weird sort of resets that. It is more an attack on what they DO than what they are.
