The propaganda really isn't anything different or special though. I've been using TikTok for years and it's no different than any other social media. You interact with what you're interested in and so you see what you want to see. Just like lemmy and reddit and whatever else. I'd argue that TikTok is a bit better for not having US corporate fingers all over it tbh.

If propaganda is valid criticism of the way our government is behaving by our own citizens on their own channels then I guess you could call it that lol. But banning TikTok is already proof that our government is full of fuckery and not working for us. They tried twice before this and the people unequivocally said NO both times. So they shoved it through in a way that makes it more difficult for anyone to hold them accountable. Because of course they did. Even people that don't like the idea of TikTok should be more like you and against this obvious power grab. They don't want to protect us. They want our data back in the US markets and our eyes back on our own homegrown propaganda that they can control. It really is outrageous if you consider it at anything more than surface level.

Facebook literally conducted social experiments on a million of their own users and didn't even get a slap on the wrist. Banning TikTok had absolutely nothing to do with security or stopping propaganda. Anyone that thinks otherwise is a gullible fool.

What you pay in taxes isn't YOUR money so get over it.

Why wouldn't you want everyone around you to be at least moderately comfortable? Is it really that hard to just shut up and let someone be for a few minutes? I don't mind socializing but sometimes I just wanna wander off on my own for a few minutes to recharge. Is that really so much to ask? Then people take it personally when I politely ask them to give me a few minutes as if I'm being rude.

She had a broken fucking neck. It's not up for debate. Just stop.

Yeah, no shit. That doesn't justify throwing our votes away on candidates that simply have no chance. Trying "something different" for the sake of saying you tried something different does nothing but feed your own ego. In the meantime poc, women, and the lgbtq community will be thrown under the bus with another trump presidency.

I'm honestly skeptical of anyone that's pushing for not voting or for voting 3rd party because republicans are pushing this narrative hard right now. They know nobody sane will vote for trump so their best bet is to discourage voting for either candidate. If you're not working for the republican party on purpose you honestly might as well be since you're spreading the same rhetoric they are.

What other reason would you suggest as to why he would assume that he knows more than her or that she couldn't be the person that he's referring to? Clearly he didn't even know her name yet so what did he have to go by to draw those conclusions? It obviously wasn't her lack of knowledge on the subject that they were discussing now was it?

Privilege is writing off your own privilege as inherent in nature and then pointing at other groups of people going "but they're allowed it's not fair!!!"

Before we do anything else we should be working to end lobbying and put every single lobbyist leech on society out of a job. Otherwise this is all pipe dreams. They'll just lobby it away.
