Yeah for a few competitions. It was a lot of fun for the one year I was still in school to do it.

I was in the speech and debate club, but there wasn't a class. I remember it much more fondly than some of these comments. We worked on several areas, Group Discussion being one of them. Part of it was acknowledging and tracking how often other members spoke and bringing them into the fold and ensuring you didn't go too far above or below the middle line.

Genuinely taught me a lot about having meaningful conversations and well structured verbal arguments, and why I now know what to do with my wacky inflatable arms no one ever instructed me on the proper use of while speaking.

But if it's Ben Shapiro type shit? That's for the birds, I agree with that sentiment I'm seeing in some places.

Hard disagree. What this picture is showing is ill-fitted clothes. Everyone looks better when their measurements are taken into consideration with the outfit. You don't have to fit it close to the belly to be 'fitted' clothes, they'd probably downplay the extra waist size and focus on tailoring the fit near the shoulders and arms and ensuring the shirts mid area is more specific to the individual's shape than the three-sizes-fit-all Walmart shirt strategy.

Most of my stuff isn't fitted, and I've been a solid 50-75lbs overweight most of my life, but the stuff that is fitted looks nice (and cost a good penny more) and makes me feel better while wearing it

That's not. How. Tipped. Wages. Work.

Why do people insist that you get paid 2.10/hr? That's 2.10/hr + Tips IF AND ONLY IF that wage equals more than minimum wage. That's how it's always been.

If minimum wage is 7.25 (in a lot of states, it still is), then they are paid 7.25x40 OR 2.10x40+tips, whichever of those two numbers is higher. They CANNOT LEGALLY PAY YOU less than minimum wage.

So when people say "If you stopped tipping today, all that would be hurt is the tipped workers" I'm less inclined to believe them if they also parrot absolutely false information without a second thought.

But I do agree with you, tipped wage jobs suck, and the tips seem to be the only benefit. So, let's ensure they get a proper wage from their employer, stop tipping, and if service sucks until things are figured out, I guess I'm eating at home or eating shitty-service burgers because I'd rather the system get un-fucked than continue to engage in that system.

There are plenty of other jobs that black Sputh Africans have been taking for centuries under their white counterparts, surely the same system will be in place and they can continue gainful employment in the country they love?
