Feddit.de because Deutschsprachig and I loved Reddit, but would love to see a successfully federated version of it.

I think u/spez should be the first to do an AMA right here on lemmy.

I really can't wait to see what's the fallout of Reddit going dark. Does the community really wield the power? Or does Reddit have another ace up its sleeve?

Man, I miss the days of offline multiplayer. Split-screens, one person hogging WASD and the other the arrow keys.

Shit, I'm old.

This is my pile of shit. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

It's certainly fantastic and unprecedented, that different user bases, from very different types of platforms are able to come together and interact from their platforms of choice.

We may be witnessing a disruption right now. I do see more benefits than drawbacks with federated content, but that could just be my very biased point of view.

As per title, I do think this could be a pivoting factor on whether Lemmy (and other federated services) can reach critical mass.

Doing a simple search on major search engines would likely yield a Quora or Reddit result or more on the first page.

It's critical that Lemmy posts have that same kind of traction to attract a large enough user base.

That's just my observation.

Sweet Jesus. I never imagined so many subreddits would go dark over this.

Would one say Elon Musk is the cause of this?

[-] Scheissberg@feddit.de 7 points 1 year ago

That's exactly what my office does. We even have to clock in and out with an app that only activates when connected to the office wifi. Getting the hell out of here.

I think Mastodon's community isn't really up to par with what most Twitter ditchers were expecting.

The Reddit-Lemmy exodus however, is far more exaggerated because of the tremendous number of users on third-party apps that were being killed.

This probably led to a lot more content generation and activity which makes it a lot more welcoming than Mastodon was.
