I wad on a discord with 20 people. After ten minutes I left. How anyone had a conversation is beyond me

This has been my biggest complaint. Wanna read the discussion? Be prepared to dig for it. It's awful.

The largest thing I've noticed right now is there's almost no new content. Like at all. There was some repeating but not like right now.

I'm a mod and almost none of the small subs I mod for are transitioning off of reddit as yet.

I do need to learn to mod here....

Thank you so much for the help!

Booooooooo

1) None of those app icons look familiar to me

2) There's already 3rd party apps that are confirmed to continue existing after the API change

3) Reddit already said accessibility, mod tools, and bots will be exempt from new charges

Reddit is being super scummy about this process (both in timeline, the way they've slandered the Apollo dev, and other ways), but basically at this point the mods are punishing us because Reddit hurt their feelings

fuck u/spez, fuck the mods

Copy and pasted from one of my subs on reddit in response to our keeping our subs dark. I didn't respond because clearly they aren't willing to care, listen nor change their mind.

You can't actually convince them that the way they think is wrong. They're programmed at this point. Refusing to give them an echo chamber is the best option.

Mod of small (~26,000 users) sub. We'll be staying dark indefinitely. Talking to my other mods for other subs and recommending they do the same. We're tiny but hopefully it sends a message to our users.

Remember secret Santa?

I was talking to my tech kids (programmers for a very well known company) I told them how puzzled I was. The guy that created secret Santa was gung-ho to create a new one the second reddit announced they were closing it down. Then he disappeared.

The kids then explained non-compete and why it's always included with contracts.

Reddit closed secret Santa down but wouldn't let him bring a similar thing back.

Why? What is wrong with them?

PS this is conjecture only I haven't spoken to him as he truly is MIA

I have had long hair my whole life. It was a drastic change and yeah it couldn't grow fast enough.

I'm glad she's leaning into it!

Segue into haircut.

I went and got a spiral perm thinking it would be the perfect curly I've been looking for..... It wasn't. My hair was over processed. I knew how to deal with that from my kids bleaching their hair. I dealt with it for almost two years.

I went to a beautician and told her to cut the perm out. I was over it and the damage.

I left work with hair that when straightened went to the middle of my back. I returned the next day with hair just below my earlobe.

Turns out that my hair follicles had changed and now....... Well I will never need another perm the rest of my life.

Hair grows and changes. She has the chance to rock a Mohawk (if this is no longer what is called I apologize). Or dye it the rainbow! It's short so it'll grow out quickly!!

Now if the time to have some fun!

How many subs went dark? The link is not showing that as of 1445 PDT

[-] Tinawebmom@lemmy.world 6 points 1 year ago

I know that even after my small (~26,000 users) went dark I STILL received a spam posting!

So dark means nothing to spam bots unfortunately

I have gardeners who visit twice monthly for the front yard and they've been instructional and helpful with the garden. They weed it and tell me how much to water it and other care needs.

They cut my frustration and work by 75%. Highly recommend hiring gardeners.
