I'm still using a galaxy S10 specifically because there aren't any phones on the market that have a headphone jack that I like.
It has 512gb storage, 6gb ram, removable sim and expandable storage. Just replaced the battery off ifixit. Only issue is no eSIM support for international travel but that's a small price to pay.

Mandarin has 4 (technically 5) tones so "ma" could be any one of those 4 different pronunciations. Furthermore, there are many completely different words that have the same tone/pronunciation. You just learn through context (same way as you do with English homophones)
Mom in mandarin is 媽 (mā) whereas weed is 麻 (má). Colloquially you can also say 大麻 (dàmá) for weed.

US Mobile. Main reason is cost since it's $8/month with the annual plan ($10/month if you do month to month). Only 2GB data but I'm almost always on wifi anyways.
Biggest issue I notice is that calls can take a while to connect if in a busy area. I'll try to call someone and it won't start ringing for 5sec or more at times. Sometimes it won't even connect at all and I'll have to use VOIP but that eats into data which is already limited.
