If I understand things, a good chunk of the increase is to offset the inflation that has happened since the last negotiation.

In my area specifically only 32% of the population isn't considered overweight or obese. It's very depressing.

Just want to let you know that you aren't alone. I have talked to a number of women who advocate for things like DEI and acceptance (which is something I also believe quite strongly in) but often default to preferring more traditional gender norms in dating. When pressed on the issue (not like I'm interrogating them just through normal conversations and getting to know them) they will inevitably say that it is ultimately "just their preference".

What I find so odd about that "preference" is if a man behaves in accordance with the traditional/societal gender norms in the beginning of the courting process, why is it surprising that they do the same thing later in the relationship when it comes to sharing emotional labor or various types of household chores?

I know the below is taking it to a bit of an extreme example but that behavior and "preference" often reminds me the sentiment "the only moral abortion is my abortion". Like I get it, there are a lot of shitty people out there who have no interest in putting in the effort, and they absolutely are not worth the time and effort, but when you do meet someone who is willing to put in that effort, it isn't really fair to treat them like all those other people.

I'm from an area where this can be a problem. In my experience it's pretty easy to see the buggys during the day, but at night on an unlit state road even with good head lights they can be hard to see until you are practically right on top of them.

Yeah, fuck cars, but it's just kinda a crap situation in general.

Your benefit of the doubt assumption is correct. He has explained it in detail a couple of times. Like you I find it unfortunate and frustrating.

Still, based on some of the numbers they have talked about their employee retention is very good and considering how talented many of the people who work for him are, if it were a shitty place to work that could likely easily find work elsewhere. I have a number of criticisms of Linus and his ADHD snap judgments or out of touch privileged takes, but he still strikes me as someone that does genuinely want to do the right thing that got insanely lucky and had to adapt to a crazy situation no random person off thee street would ever be that prepared before.

Don't use the time he instigated a coupe attempt as a reason?

Can you tell me why putting my hand on an electric burner that is red hot is a bad idea? Don't use anyone's past experiences being burned by hot objects.

Sure you could technically go into a complex explanation using physics as to why it's a bad idea, but why?

I am wanting a macro pad for work, but we are not allowed to install software on them and even the websites we have access to is limited. I don't want to have to use my personal computer or take the pad home whenever I want to make a more complex macro and am wondering if there are any where the keys can be configured using a configuration file stored onboard?

Barely. Manchin and Sinema kept torpedoing just about any legislation that would have been actually beneficial. Though with this specific topic it appears that eight Democrats voted against it, which is still far fewer than the number of Republicans that voted against it.

That's not to say I'm some Democrat apologist or shill, I have so many problems with the party, but for issues like these it seems like they are the lesser of two evils and if their majority margins could increase it would likely have an effect on issues like these.

The super duper shitty thing is that they could have canceled it by opening the Run dialog box and typing "shutdown -a", so it's not even like canceling wasn't an option. M$ just decided to be dicks about it

I'm writing this comment on a Fairphone 5 right now and it doesn't feel sluggish at all.

It doesn't seem to me like the increased performance of phones has had much effect on the actual experience for a while if gaming or content creation is not done on the phone. As a daily driver I think this phone will last me a while.

I could be wrong, but the reason I'm annoyed with her specifically isn't because of the use of private planes (I am annoyed by it, but that isn't specific to her). I'm annoyed with her legally harassing the person that made a bot that used publicly available data to track her plane(s).

That's why I am specifically amused by these posts, not sure if it's the same for everyone.

That shit is the most infuriating thing ever to me. It seems like so many technical discussions and communities are going to Discord now where that information is not indexed or preserved. How many issues have I had where the answer was sitting on a Discord server that will never appear in any general search result?

What kinda bothers me is that I recognize that something like YouTube is expensive to run and just switching to an alternative isn't super feasible. I would be more than happy to pay for a service like YouTube that I use everyday. HOWEVER, not with their bullshit double dipping. If I am paying a company like Google to use their services, I don't think it's unreasonable that their should be an expectation or mechanism where that means I am not just no longer served ads, but that all tracking and data collection about my account(s) are stopped.

That's never going to happen though :/
