Yep, that's how it goes with the anti-vaxx movement.

Gen 0 - lived with the reality that multiple people they knew died because of viruses and lined up to get vaxxed when they became available. Then went on to get their kids vaxxed because human ingenuity found a way to curb suffering.

Gen 1 - grow up and got their kids vaxxed because, while they might not have seen it first hand, they remember stories from their parents and were horrified. “Thank god we’re found a way to stop it!”

Gen 2 - get their kids vaxxed because they aren't stupid, and it's just become a routine part of raising a child.

Gen 3 - have the luxury of being so far removed from the horrific impact of these preventable virus' that they decide vaccines should be optional because.... "Don't tell me what to do, science nerds"

Robert Jenrick, the shadow minister for racism called yesterday for an inquiry.

He was told that there had already been an inquiry and that the results of the inquiry were available

Mr Kendrick, however, disputed the results of the inquiry, claiming the whole process must be flawed.

“There is no way this inquiry was carried out with rigour and high-standards I would expect because if it had been then it would have found that brown people were to blame.”

However, experts believe that the reason the inquiry didn’t find that brown people were to blame was because that brown people weren’t to blame.

Mr Jenrick disputed that assertion.

“Nonsense. If we had another inquiry then I’m certain that it would find that brown people were to blame and if it didn’t then we should have a further inquiry.”

Frankly, I think the only sensible thing to do is to hold as many inquiries as is necessary before brown people are found to be to blame.

Kemi Badenoch, the Tory leader for the next couple of days, was unable to comment as she’d got herself stuck in a revolving door.

Yeah, reading between the lines, it sounds like the poor guy was not in any condition to take care of himself and likely had no idea what was even happening to him for that week. What a horrible way to go.

Meh, I'm not so sure. We need to get used to the fact that reddit's fuckery is unlikely to ever re-produce the massive influx of new users that the API nonsense did in 2023. That was a one-off thing that drove out all the OG users. The people left on reddit are the types that refer to it as an "app" and probably don't even know old.reddit exists. Those kinds of people will grumble but they aren't going anywhere. And frankly, that's fine by me.

Edit: lmao okay, okay, Lemmy got 6 new users today. I get it. My point that we're never going to see another user influx on the scale of the summer 2023 API changes has been proven wrong. Congrats everyone. Let's hope half of them actually stick around.

Yeah, that's pretty damn ugly.

"From this day forward, our country will flourish and be respected again all over the world." - Donald Trump, Inauguration Day Jan 20 2025.

So much respect.

Link to The Onion's article

It's almost seven years old, but sadly, more relevant today than it's ever been.

Meh. Only suckers give a shit about the “generosity” of billionaires. Tax them. Tax them down to millionaire status. Why should they dictate what programs get funded? It’s never worked before.. it’s not suddenly going to start now.

I mean, your own tumblr link is proof of that. After all, Gotham’s still a crime ridden shithole, isn’t it? Clearly Bruce Wayne doesn’t know what Gotham actually needs.

Seconded, but they just go by Tuta now.

ST. LOUIS  Donald Trump, with permission from President Elon Musk, has enacted his latest executive order, essentially removing all DEI hires from every chessboard in America. The US Chess Federation is currently adhering to the order, but plans to fight it in courts in the coming weeks. We took to chessboards across the country to see how chess pieces were feeling about Musk’s latest order.

“I think it’s about time we leveled the playing field,” said a white knight who happened to be a blood relative to the King. “The other side was just hiring black knights to fill a space. Those guys aren’t nearly as qualified as me when it comes to moving in L-shapes.”

The front row whites also showed excitement for the changes coming to the game. Every pawn we spoke to mentioned the ‘high hopes’ they had for their future on the board.

“This is a win for the little guy,” one white pawn said. “The chances of me making it to the other side and getting a promotion have gone way way way up. Maybe one day I can make it into the back row myself.”

Not all pieces are too happy about the new order. White Queen felt blindsided about the changes to the game.

“What the fuck, I’m considered DEI? I thought it was just the black pieces,” the white queen said. “This is bullshit. Who was moving around the board making all the moves? Me. Who was saving the sorry King from all the checks and from getting checkmated? Me. I worked my ass off for that side of the board and this is how I get thanked? Getting tossed aside in favor of some stupid moron who can only move one space at a time. Fuck you and fuck this game.”

At press time Trump had asked permission from President Musk to sign a new executive order, allowing the King to move wherever he wanted. Musk replied he would look into it.
