Eh, giving out a downvote isn't a stressor, nor it's it necessarily personal. It's not even an indicator that the content should be removed, just that a user doesn't think it's helpful/fun/or contributing to the discussion

It's bare minimum feedback where blocking is not. And honestly, we should encourage more of it, rather than encourage people to create their echo chambers (within an already somewhat echo chambery platform)

If anything is personally stressful, it's stressing over an anonymous user's opinion that has very little context to it. Downvotes don't even hide or reduce visibility of your comments or posts in most of the sorting methods.

No one disagrees, but...

Do people tell it their name a lot? Even when asking for help with something personalized (like a resume) I still tend to react my name and edit it in myself after.

... Is this just me?

This is already a thing that happens currently. Some admins/moderators don't like being downvoted and ban people for "vote manipulation" because they vote on things in their feed.

It is leading to exactly that, where people are worried that using the voting system as intended will lead to exclusion from participation in some communities.

If you can set up a jury of their peers to convict them, then you're on the right track.

The main moral argument against it would be lack of due process. While that should involve the courts, morally or ethically it probably doesn't have to.

Lottery. Maybe this is just very US of me, or maybe it's just my form of autism/ADHD. But I have no faith in true love. There's a lot of happiness it can provide, but money provides more

Or at least more protection from unhappiness

Anything vaguely circular must be a butthole. Radial symmetry isn't found anywhere else in nature

I want this food, and I like the way your wife plates it.

Theoretically, you can still sue the office of the President, just not Trump himself.

So, you know. You can cost the taxpayers money, but not the person making the terrible costly decisions

12 Monkeys is probably the most satisfying time travel series I've seen.

Don't let the name throw you off, the series had nothing to do with the excellent Terry Gilliam film, but the network felt the need to slap a 12 Monkeys facade over it.

Banned from entire communities or instances, similar to the other people in the thread who are saying that's why they don't comment. Some people are very sensitive about getting downvotes.

Ever since an update two or three days ago, Voyager has been displaying nothing but a blank screen on my phone.

Just running the PWA on Firefox 132.0.2 on my old Samsung Galaxy S10. I get the same results when visiting vger.app directly.

He is 20 years old and would never admit to participating in bleptember
