All the time. I wouldn't want a phone without it

it says the term has lost impact, I agree. Doesn;t mean it should be 'retired' but I get the point.

Other words have also lost impact. 'Democracy' comes to mind. I live in a dictatorship that on a daily basis call themselves a Peoples' Democracy, and half the world agrees

Google killing a product? No way

I want to find a good German course. I know there's Duolingo, Babbel, Rosetta Stone, etc., but I find they don't work for me.

I want a course like the ones from 15-20 years ago that would give you some text books and some CDs for listening exercises.

I started learning German with one of those that my dad had, but unfortunately the audio lessons are incomplete.

I'd like to know where I can download/purchase a course in that format. I also prefer that format because my internet access is intermittent so I want to be able to study offline.

Thank you!

I'll start by saying I haven't played this, I just watched reviews online. But I see everybody agreeing in that the exploration is not actual exploration but a lot of clicking menus. And when someone complains about it, there's always a bunch of people defending it because "it's a bethesda game" or "the game is what it is and not what you expected it to be". I don't get this.

The game was overhyped, and the specific part about space exploration is (so far) a lie. Period.

The post image is my motivation profile. It's pretty accurate.

I have zero access to the internet on my PS4, and I have the chance to get a Payback disc.

Is the offline at least decent? I expect to have a good amount of different races, good arcade driving and good AI

EDIT: also replayability

Personally, on the one hand, yes they are going to have more exclusives, but that’s PlayStation’s whole model since forever, they can’t talk about that.

On the other hand, PS acquires and/or founds small/medium size studios, they don’t go and buy Activision-sized companies and make established cross-console AAA titles exclusive overnight.

So I think I’m against the acquisition, but not really sure lol

strangely wholesome, what's the catch?

This Rockets rebuild must be the strangest I’ve ever seen.

They spend a couple years gathering young talent, then suddenly they are in nearly every rumor for a star player or veteran role player, and give high salaries (too high IMO) to FVV and Dillon Brooks.

What am I missing?

that's a great analogy

This has come to mind because all the chatter about Meta federating.

I see a lot of people saying they'd love to have that type of content here when Meta federates, and that those will be the best instances because they will have the most content, but they will still be accessible without compromising their privacy.

I truly don't get this.

I'm not here for mass-produced content, if I wanted that, I'd be in other platforms. The beauty of these communities is they are not filled with posts that are all the same, algorithms and bots. It's just a community of real people having conversations.

If you want mass-produced trendy content, please, consume it elsewhere, and when you are inevitably fed up, then come here and enjoy the slow-paced, real community.

PD: I hope this doesn't come across as wall-keeping (or however it's said lol), It's my honest opinion.

That was my first thought too, until I found this:

The potential problem is not us making a dent on Threads, I couldn't care less if people want to use it. The potential problem is that they do the EEE (link1, link2) on the Fediverse. It's not us trying to steal users from them, or preventing people from joining them, it's about preventing them from becoming the standard way for people to access the Fediverse, thus giving them control over the protocol's direction and giving them the possibility to, once they are the de facto standard, defederate and kill the rest of small communities.

That, and personally, I wouldn't like Meta meddling with the protocol, simply because there is no beneficial outcome for them other than gaining control of it, which would be horrible.
