Food should be OK, no? I guess everything helps if you need to pay more for non-food items.

Someone stockpiling in Canada and Mexico, some of what isn't delivered in LA, would make a killing. We should be putting an export tax on Chinese made goods going to the US unless we want to follow the coyote. 😂

I hope it is all that and I turn out to be a jaded cynic that'll be proven wrong. :D

I highly doubt that practical fusion is going to emerge from a small scale private lab. The chances that they're a hype-driven sinkhole for capital is high. Bezos pulling funding out raises my suspicions higher. This should be audited by fusion experts from Canadian public institutions and only if it doesn't look like a scam, fund it.

So we had SMRs all along? I smell a grift. 😂

I don't know if CANDUs have pre-made components, I was just talking about their output power. I don't know exactly why it's lower than other designs but I know there are some fundamental differences like CANDU burning unenriched uranium as opposed to almost all other designs. It also uses heavy water to make that possible compared to the rest. I assume the lower power output is related to these differences. Or it could be arbitrary. We need someone working on nukes at OPG or SNC-Lavalin to chime in. 😂

Our reactors have lower output than the typical 1-1.5GW of foreign designs though. CANDU are in the the 500-800MW range. It's why compared to CANDU, 300MW is significant.

single biggest predictor and cause of far-right politics in the 21st century, foreign-born population

The far-right doesn't require foreign-born population to function. Yes at the moment this is the lowest hanging fruit that fulfils the function of an other however the lack of it doesn't change the mechanisms that give rise and prominence of the far-right. If there is no foreign-born population, an other can be found within society, as it has in the past and present. Also, when an other has been "dealt with," a far-right regime has to pick another in order to sustain its power. So even if you start with immigrants, natural born citizens of some kind are next. Leftists, Jews, LGBTQ people are historically common targets.

The small modular reactor (SMR) would provide 300 megawatts of power, enough electricity to supply about 300,000 homes, according to briefing documents from Ontario's Ministry of Energy and Mines.

300MW isn't small at all. That's half a CANDU block! I thought they would be significantly smaller and therefore not too significant for the grid until we build more units. This is the equivalent of 20-30 of the largest wind turbines available. Not sure if we have that large units installed in Canada.

Do they have the equivalent for Lemmy?

E: Found it using Kagi... It just wasn't turned on for me.

I did support Carney and I hope he does good things, and I don't think the following scenario would occur but I realize this belief is entirely based on my judgement of Carney's character which could be wrong.

I was thinking about the proposed gas pipeline to the east coast. If Carney hopes to be re-elected, he can't ram a pipeline through Quebec using emergency powers if such exist. Or he'd lose his seats in QC. Instead he's gotta give significant concessions to QC, like ownership, high royalties, etc. Stuff that he and Blanchet can sell to the Quebecers. I think this is certainly possible for a gas pipeline.

But then the following disaster scenario occurred to me. He likely has significant Brookfield investments in that blind trust. He likely has a seat open on that board whenever he quits public service. What if he uses emergency powers to ram a whole bunch of infrastructure, through P3s, where the private partner retains ownership, and the partner is Brookfield. Do as many of those as possible, get kicked out of office and sit on Brookfield's board, that much richer, while we get saddled with an even angrier and vindicated CPC fascism.

Thoughts?

Edit: Thanks for wading into my election PTSD nightmare!

I wanted to buy a pair of pants but I can't see Add to card anywhere. Am I blind?

Niagara Falls—Niagara-on-the-Lake is another close LPC-CPC race that could use any help from non-LPC voters. It used to be a CPC seat.

This page shows a nice visualization of the closest races.

I have a unique opportunity to add a node at the Tower LNB ring. However I'm struggling to source a Meshtastic gateway that meets the requirements I'v been given. Any help would be appreciated.

  1. Power will be provided over 48v POE ONLY
  2. Remote management is a must, consider both internet provided over ethernet and 4G/LTE as backup (fw updates)
  3. Maximum 5db gain antenna can be used positioned on the LNB ring facing N-NW, must not exceed 1400mm in length
  4. Must be tuned for exactly 915mhz (l'm thinking cavity filter) to help with Rx.
  5. Enclosure and antenna must be pole mounted
  6. Absolutely no wifi 2.4 or 5ghz
  7. 500CND budget I'd like a set it and forget it approach. ls it even worth it?
