I think this is the article: https://www.the-independent.com/tech/hubble-space-telescope-nasa-universe-b2083376.html

Issue seems to continue to be with discrepancies in the rate of the universe's expansion.

"There is a key difference between the rate of the expansion of the universe as it is around us, when compared with observations from right after the Big Bang".

"Scientists are unable to explain that discrepancy. But it suggests there is “something weird” going in our universe, that could be the result of unknown, new physics, Nasa says".

This is a big reason why I hated learning history. It is very depressing. I'm always amazed how people can't seem to understand things they didn't personally live through. It is a constant cycle of exploitation then revenge on the exploiters and then a new way to exploit.

I'm trying to be hopeful, but it feels like we are in the phase where most need to suffer in order to get to a better place. Climate change is scary, but I try to remember progress can be explosive in ways you don't expect.

The zodiac killer thing was a joke at first. It was focused on the odd way he would talk, comparing mannerisms with that if the zodiac killer.

I'm not aware of it ever being said. But I've noticed a lot of conspiracies seem to originate from a joke that others don't get.

A group of investors including private-equity firm Silver Lake and Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund could unveil a deal for the publisher best known for its sports games as soon as next week, WSJ said.

Is there a way to get a list of the top company's involved? I'm curious who the owners would be. This implies it would mostly be Saudi Arabia, but it isn't clear.

If I've learned anything about the corporate world is that they only want metrics that confirm the views they hold or want to push. I think you have a point though. These are metrics that they can reference when trying to get advertising money. If I was an advertiser I'd care more about how many are not bots though.

I'm not really anti AI, but I do have plenty of issues with it. Mostly with how it is trained and pushed. Well and almost everyone in charge of it. It feels like the worst people are excited at the idea of replacing people and it is very dystopian.

But like, I don't hate LLMs. In fact what I hate the most about them is the human aspects I guess. Like I see a lot of people on forums almost religious about it.

Anyways, I know Lemmy hates it. What is the main reason? Is it similar to what I dislike about it or is the underlying technology (not the copyright issues) also upsetting people?

She left him over trust issues and it's implied he didn't have a good alibi for Epstein. We don't know if Bill actually did anything, but Melinda clearly didn't trust him in the end. Bill also came across as controlling (not surprising) and she had to just suffer with the lifestyle he chose even when she disagreed.

She clearly cared more about philanthropy for the sake of it than he did. She also was more interested in being modest despite wealth. At least modest for being that rich, I don't actually know how modest she was/is but she wasn't into big mega mansions.

For a lot of us we can't simply leave. And if we can, it could still take years for visas. If we are lucky it will be short, but I'm not too optimistic.

Thanks for extra context. These people really don't seem to care about others suffering. Also I don't normally hear gang violence and mass shooters together. Gang violence is generally targeted and not focused on the most amount of bodies.

Regardless I'm getting tired of this all, and it's likely only beginning.

Give me liberty or give me death. Except some don't want liberty either...

Plex hasn't been getting better, but it still does what I need. I have a lifetime pass from years ago. If I was starting today I would be a lot less inclined to pay for Plex though. They keep adding things I don't want.

The definition of pedophilia is sexual attraction towards children. So if the anime characters are all clearly representing children, then sure, why not count that.

The thing is, there is a lot of art that is kind of vague on age. The loli girl stuff creeps me out. But the older teenager / young adult anime/art feels a little more like general human brain. Especially if the user isn't trying to seek it out. No one is perfect.

But in this case obviously sexualizing something that looks like a child is creepy. Elon's age is not helping him either...
