I got the job! Offered on the spot after a nice lunch. They seem like alright people, too. I'm so excited.

Thank you! Good luck on yours too!

I've got a job interview in 10 hours! It's a merchandiser position for a beverage vendor. If I get this job, it will become my full-time job and my current full-time job would go part-time, as this would make me more money.

Basically, while it won't make me rich, this will finally give me the ability to afford to actually live and not just scrape by begging and borrowing.

I am anxious as hell.

Wish me luck, friends! I need this!

I'm having to pay rent two weeks late on the 16th because I've gotten behind. I need some help making that happen.

I've got an interview for a second job today. Wish me luck, comrades!

And arrows, no?

You are correct, of course. I was being difficult.

I've got a thing in my drawer that'll do that. Doesn't take calls, though.

I have an interview for a second job on Wednesday. If I get it, my basic financial insecurity will be solved. The interviewer is driving like 40 minutes to come meet me, so I have high hopes they plan on offering me the job.

I'm assuming this adorable creature came out of that little door and I'm officially calling it a Dust Bunny.

Rent is due tomorrow. This post is more to hopefully e alleviate a week of late fees, so I'm only paying a week late. I don't know if I can get caught back up if I get a full two weeks behind.

Rent is 710, I have 180 and I get paid tomorrow night. I can probably manage 180 out of that check. So if I miraculously got the remainder in the next two days that's great. But again, I'm hedging for having to pay next week, with almost $100 in late fees (50 the first late day).

I'm desperately looking for a second job so I can afford to live.

Thanks for any help! I'll get out of this one day.

I glanced at this the first time, went huh... And went about my day accepting it as probable. It wasn't until later when I saw it again I decided to look at it and realized it wasn't real.

That says something about the state of the world and and about me, and I don't like any of it.

I'm way behind again. I'm going to end up having to pay rent like two weeks late for July because there's no way I can pay it on time or even one week late. I've just resigned myself to that fact.

I was going to try and donate plasma (my veins are not suitable but they haven't told me I can't come back), but I was recently diagnosed with herpes, and you can't donate if you're having an outbreak. So I can't even sell my fucking blood.

I was supposed to hear back yesterday about a seasonal job at my apartment complex. It would have put me working 40 hours at my day job and another probably 50 at the seasonal for 6 to 8 weeks, but I'd at least finally have some money. But apparently I can't even get a temp job at the place I live, because I haven't heard anything.

Having a real low mental health point. Well, it's been pretty bad for months. But I'm having a hard day.

For right now, I just need some money for a few food items and some laundry and dish soap.

I have a job interview in about two hours. It's for a seasonal position with my apartment complex, to help with all the students moving in and out. I live in off-campus apartments built for students but can be rented by whomever, as long as you don't have kids, I think.

I desperately need a second job. I am obviously going to take this position if it is offered to me, and I don't see any reason it won't be.

The question comes from this: At the end of the season, in about two months, they offer some of the seasonal people full-time positions. Truth be told, regardless of the general opinions here, I will probably pursue that job pretty aggressively. It should pay better than my current grocery store job, and I believe there may be a discount on rent for full-timers.

In the event I'm offered the job and take it, I would be officially working for a sizeable corporate landlord. I obviously have serious ethical issues with this premise. That said, we do all have to exist within this capitalist hellscape they've created for us, so I don't think me making $16 an hour or something showing people apartments and leases and such really puts me in a position to be morally compromised. But it does put me uncomfortably close to it, in a way.

I don't know. I am not a theory or moral wiz kid like some of my wonderful comrades here. And as I said, this really is more for opinions than actionable advice. I am not in an economic position to be turning down just about anything on moral grounds. I'm not going to be a cop or sell crack (I'd much rather sell crack), but I also can't be high and mighty, turning down good jobs just because I don't like how they make their money. Chances are that will apply to any company I could work for. Hell, my current employer is Publix, a large grocery chain with anti-union and anti-competition practices, who - you guessed it! - also does real estate. I don't know if they do residential or just commercial, though. So I'm fucked no matter what xD

I guess this is just a place to discuss working for employers who you are ethically opposed to, your opinions on the matter, and how you cope.

Wish me luck! Interview is at 1:30pm EST, so in 1.5 hours. I'm pretty confident given this is a seasonal position. The only issue would be a drug test, but I'd only pop for weed and I just haven't been able to afford to get my card renewed (I'm up for the full process, not the re-cert). I'm sure I can navigate that at the time, should I need to.

That was fast as fuck! Thank you!

I have of course run out of toothpaste, body wash, and shampoo and conditioner all at one time. I could use some help as I won't be able to have any money for these things until next week.

I'll likely pick up some vegetables as well to go with the beans and rice I bought to cook.

Thank you!

I use afterpay sometimes to cover my groceries. I neglected to realize I had a payment due today. It's 7.05. I just don't want them to take away my ability to use the service, as it definitely saves me sometimes.

My CashApp is overdrawn (no fees, I live overdrawn - they treat it like a free line of credit) so it would eat the payment. I have Venmo if that's more convenient.

Grocery Budget? (hexbear.net)
submitted 4 weeks ago* (last edited 4 weeks ago) by isame@hexbear.net to c/askchapo@hexbear.net

I'm trying to come up with a realistic budget number for groceries. I'm 33 and have a moderately physical full-time job, and I ride a mountain bike on the trails probably 5-15 miles a week, weather and depression permitting. So I'm decently active. What do you think I should expect to spend on groceries every week, if I'm being moderately thrifty?

ETA: Bonus points if you give me a rough idea of what you'd spend the money on.

Need met! Thank you so much!

tl;dr at bottom!

Hi there everyone. I have really bad teeth and used to get tooth infections all the time. It's been a few years, but I have one now. It's slow to develop and I'm still hoping it'll find a way to drain itself, but I've been urged by my friends to go ahead and go get antibiotics, so I'm going to take the advice I know to be wise. I'm old hat at this, they'll give me antibiotics and tell me to go to a dentist, and I will take the meds and not go to a dentist because even with dental insurance now I can't even begin to afford copays when I can't pay rent or feed myself. All of my teeth need to be removed, just to start.

I scheduled an appointment with the local urgent care thingy (CareSpot) tomorrow after work. I'd paid all my bills (or so I thought...), set aside my rent money for this week in a money order, minus the $50 for the copay for tomorrow. And then my phone bill hit. This is like my second month having a phone bill again after probably a year not having a carrier. It's only $14 and change. But now I'm short on my copay. I can't extract money from that money order as it is made out to my apartment complex already, and I also do not have a physical bank.

tl;dr: tooth infection, need urgent care copay $50 for tomorrow to go get antiobiotics, set money aside but phone bill snuck up on me, need $15.
