I have some conservative in-laws that live in Northern Minnesota. When we drove up to visit, they were like "You stopped in MINNEAPOLIS on your way up here?!? How did you survive all the crime??"

Like seriously, Fox News has convinced these people that the world outside their immediate bubbles is an absolute hellhole overrun with immigrants, homeless people, and gang members.

It's worth giving the article a read. It seems that they're not using the data for training, but for real-time results.

From an article about it:

The majority of the Democrats complied with the law enforcement escort, showing reporters what they called “permission slips” they received to leave the House floor and pointing to the officers escorting them around the Capitol.

WTF. How have Democrats still not learned that complying gets you nothing.

It's equal parts disgusting and terrifying that Trump has those hats. He's already proving through his actions that he doesn't give a shit about our democracy - but having a hat that basically says "fuck you, I'm a dictator" is just so brazen.

On God that bruh's bussy's straight bussin' fr fr.

Yeah there's definitely a problem that's more than just a few hours delay. It's got 50 votes and 10 comments when viewed from a non-lemmy.world account.

And just to clarify, it is my understanding that "pretty bussin' bruh" is quite different than "pretty bussy, bruh". Correct?

It's worth giving the judge's letter a read. He had this distributed to all the people that wrote in on the defendant's behalf, since many people thought he was a good person and did nothing wrong. The judge set the record straight: https://storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.uscourts.dcd.227212/gov.uscourts.dcd.227212.272.0.pdf

Yeah I made a post for my instance admins and they mentioned they're seeing a huge queue build up for post/comments to and from the lemmy.world instance, but not other instances. My guess is that something is going on with lemmy.world. I posted something to their support community but haven't seen anything yet from them.

Hi,

I normally post from an account on the sh.itjust.works instance and recently noticed that posts and comments to and from lemmy.world are getting delayed by a few hours.

I made this post (https://sh.itjust.works/post/17275496) to discuss on that instance, but you might not be able to see the comments over there, including responses from the admins, if you're using a .world account.

Full disclosure, I am not on the admin team over there, but based on their responses it sounds like something might be going on with the lemmy.world side.

Just wanted to bring it to your attention.

Thanks

Here's from my other account.

I'm guessing you'll get this comment (from my lemmy.world) account well before you get my other reply (from my sh.itjust.works) account. Even though I made this comment later.

When sorting comments by Top, you can get a situation shown in the image where a child comment has more comments than the parent, causing the parent comment to be hidden. Clicking "View Parent..." scrolls down to the parent comment, but it's shown without the connection to the child comment - which is very confusing.

I can't think of a situation where someone would ever want to read a child comment without seeing the context of what the comment is replying to. Is there a way to disable this type of situation while still being able to sort comments by Top?
