The journalists also spoke to a resident of the "DPR" ["Donetsk People’s Republic" – self-proclaimed and non-recognised quasi-state formation in Ukraine’s Donetsk Oblast – ed.] who has been fighting on the side of Russia for more than two years. Recently, he learned from his neighbours that his apartment had been recognised as "mismanaged property" and could be nationalised.

They likely can't hear them coming. Shooting without earpro will do a number on your ears.

The Security Service of Ukraine (SSU) claims to have disrupted the plans of the Russian Federal Security Service (FSB) to eliminate Ukraine's President Zelenskyy and other members of the country's top military and political leadership.

They appear to be disarmed and possibly wounded with the shooter moving calmly from one person to the next and executing them based on the video in the article. It's unlikely they're combatants at this point which would make them prisoners.

I was wondering when they would start using civil aviation aircraft to conduct strikes. I'm not sure of the legality of weaponizing civilian assets for military purposes, but it's an effective disguise if they can log a flight plan near a sensitive target. Even if they don't hit the target or get shot down, then Russia will have to run the risk of shooting down its own civilian aircraft or stop general aviation flights near high value targets.

I had to look this equipment up because I was unfamiliar with it and from the Russian sources I've seen it was just deployed yesterday or at least publicized that it was deployed.

It's a Google translate of the post on Telegram, which always looks funky after it's been processed.

There's no way that was pass interference on [player], the refs are clearly rigging the game for [opposing team]!

Absolutely excellent article. I was just thinking about this topic last night with all the Hexbear drama going on after taking a peek at their front page seeing all the Russian colonialism apologists and excusers posting there.

It is reported that the passage was secured by a US P8 anti-ship aircraft.

That seems pretty significant. It seems unlikely the ships would have been targeted by Russia if they were flying the flags of their country of origin, but to have an armed escort is definitely a huge deterrence. I have to wonder what sort of response it'll garner considering all the other 'unprofessional acts' Russian aircraft have been employing against unarmed US aircraft lately.

Looking through the mod log, I don't blame them for nuking the whole thread. Your comment seemed respectable enough, but the others were devolving pretty quick.

Looks like it was lemmy.world that banned it. I can still see it in the list of communities on lemmy.ml, but not lemmy.world. Edit: found it in the mod log as well.
