The song was annoying,

Does anyone get local ads?

It seems like it's "car" "fast food"(eat while driving!) "Cell phone"(distraction while driving) "beer"(inhibited driving) "car insurance" repeat ad nauseum. I feel we're incredibly 1 dimensional as a market.

[-] lesserprophet@lemmy.world 13 points 1 year ago

There's no way that was pass interference on [player], the refs are clearly rigging the game for [opposing team]!

[-] son_named_bort@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Oh come on, the refs missed the blatant holding call earlier in the game against [player on your favorite team], they were just trying to make up for the no call.

[-] Holomew@lemmy.world 4 points 1 year ago

Fuck Roger Goodell! Go Tawm Brady! Alright I'm ready for football season.

[-] UnclePappa@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Let's go! Only 29 days until kickoff!!

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Which bot code are you using? Did you roll your own?

[-] Hurts@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

No, it's Rooki's automod.

Right now, it is impossible for us to edit the post and/or edit the content of the post after it is up, so we can't update the game threads with stats and scores currently, but that feature should be available to us before the season begins.

If you have access to the one that does c/phillies posts we could use that though

Edit - I tried to message you about this like a week ago but my dumbass must have messaged the bot directly lol

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

I ask because we've pretty much finished the Redball bot which does the Baseball threads, and expect the port of the existing NFL bot to go pretty smoothly. Let me know if you want to leverage that instead.

[-] Hurts@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

If the bot is ready to go I'd love to give it a try, I can mod you here if you want to handle it, if not just send me the steps to do it and I will

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

Let me see how fast I can bang it out - I don't see anything that needs to change except swapping API calls. The MLB bot is much more complex than the NFL one, so it should go smoothly.

[-] moeggz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Not OP but a mod at KC Chiefs. If you do get the bot running and are wanting to share I would be very grateful for not access. Totally understand if that’s not something you are wanting to do tho.

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 3 points 1 year ago

The code will be up on GitHub as soon as it is working. You can check in on philly_philly@lemmy.world or philly_bot@fanaticus.social if you want to see what progress I'm making. I'm planning to get it working, then run it for the first preseason game. If it doesn't blow up, I'll point you to the code. I can also run the bot for your team (the code supports configuring multiple teams) if you want.

[-] moeggz@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Thank you so much! Yes please keep me posted!

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Grr, federation is broken. I'm going to be testing on that site, so you'll want to sign up over there, or on another instance. Lemmy.world is too unstable (and Cloudflare is doing weird things to some bots) to test here. https://fanaticus.social/c/redball

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

You'll want to subscribe to this community for the latest news on the bot, and to provide any feedback.

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Sorry, that link should have been this

[-] Hurts@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Great! Message me anytime and I'll get back to you ASAP, this bot is very nice but as I said this isn't really its purpose.

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Yeah, I was able to get it doing this in about an hour: https://fanaticus.social/post/248516

I'll get the rest of it cleaned up and we'll have it running on Saturday to see how it goes.

[-] Hurts@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

How can I get that added here? Should I just mod you and let you do it?

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

Do you want threads for every game in /c/nfl? It can probably be done, though that's kind of crazy...

[-] Hurts@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

The plan was every game, yeah

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

On your edit, I was using old.lemmy.world which has a very broken inbox - I found your message about the baseball bot, but not NFL. Not sure why it didn't pop up in Memmy...we'll need to find something more reliable.

[-] moeggz@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago

Exciting! Is there a way for individual team subs to get access to the bot?

[-] Hurts@lemmy.world 1 points 1 year ago

This bot is available to basically anyone, however the only way I'm aware to access it is through a mod/admin discord that I'm in (the commands for it for scheduling posts etc. are all through the discord as well), if you mod any communities you're welcome to join, IIRC you just have to verify that you are indeed the user that mods said community to unlock the channels.

The automod bot is really great and provides a mod queue/text commands for banning etc., but unfortunately at this point, it is unable to allow edits to posts after they go up (i.e. we cannot update this post with scores/stats currently), and as I do not own the bots account I cannot go in and manually make the edits. This feature is coming in the next few weeks the dev tells me, however, I'm working with another user here in the comments that set one up for me on c/phillies that is great, so will very likely use that once it is up and running.

[-] BigBananaDealer@lemm.ee 2 points 1 year ago

thats not RTP. god these refs suck

[-] cerevant@lemmy.world 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago)

For anyone stumbling across this thread: discussion of the port of the Redball bot (the one used for most MLB an NFL threads on Reddit) can be found here for the latest news on the bot, and to provide any feedback.).
