i realized that i usually don’t think most of the time and maybe that’s weird. i’ll just kinda vomit out actions and words with no reflection like i’m doing right now.

Hamas has lobbyists and high ranking politicians spread throughout the world. There are right wing fanatical religious movements in different countries supporting Hamas. Hamas has broad support in the West and in Western media. Meanwhile, the Global South broadly condemns Hamas and supports…

it's becoming truer everyday that $1m is not enough to be considered "rich" thanks to inflation. the avg age of a millionaire in the US is 62 (approx retirement age for most countries in the world). if a 62yo owns their house and has enough to retire in the US, there's a large chance they're a "millionaire".

controversial, but i think someone's relation to capital is more important than their raw net worth. though tbf at some net worth number your relationship to capital does fundamentally change as something like investing in the stock market becomes enough proxy for ownership.

They're right secular states in the Middle East have always failed - just look at what happened to Libya and Iraq. Don't even get me started on Iran. /s

Minneapolis probably has the most corrupt police force in the entire country. Jesus Christ.

Insane fact I learned from this article: Derek Chauvin and George Floyd were "coworkers" at the same club and almost certainly knew each other personally. Derek Chauvin being the police designated security the club owner was forced to hire and George Floyd being a bouncer.

54% of American adults read below a 6th grade level. The literacy statistics for redditors are sadly even more grim.

what's shocking to me is how utterly bloodthirsty they are - basically advocating for the wholesale murder of all Gazan inhabitants. what the fuck? what happened?

was there some sort of manchurian candidate-style trigger phrase that turned all of these people into genocide lovers overnight?

I knew things were bad - just statistically (something like 60% of Americans have below a 5th grade reading level) - but it's alarming that it seems to be getting worse according to those on the ground. As far as I can tell, the only reason the United States keeps up is by exerting massive brain drain on the rest of the world. I work at one of those Fortune 500 companies or whatever that shit is and the vast majority of my "high skill" coworkers are people from other countries.

just made a new account and I noticed you don't get to pick pronouns until after your account is made

I feel like it would make wreckers mald when trying to sign up for an account, and I think would be good practice in general. Alternatively, seeing a [none/use name] on a fresh account is sometimes a good wrecker signal.
