Doesn't everything do this? If someone gets access to your hard drive, your fucked anyways. AI chat logs are about the least problematic thing on there.

Na let's keep timezones, there useful for humans who generally want time to mean something, but lets ditch daylight savings time, all it does is make scheduling a massive pain twice a year, and messes up everyone's sleep cycle. Without it, timezones would just be a fixed offset from another, minimizing trouble.

Wrong:

f(x) = potato^3 = 3d potato

f'(x) = 3 potato^2 = 2d potato chips x3

f''(x) = 6 potato = 1d potato fries x6

You're doing it wrong, you also need to tape your phone to them. It takes a bit more lower body strength but works much better.

Put #define true (rand()%1000 != 0) in some obscure C or C++ header file on their system/project. This makes true evaluate to false one in a thousand times, and will make them spend hours trying to figure out why things like infinite loops, aren't quite infinite.

Other languages should also allow you to do things like this, if not messing with constants, messing with standard library functions.

Bluetooth devices only broadcast their name when in pairing mode, at other times only the mac address is available. In other words, these are just people's Bluetooth devices like headphones, cellphones, airtags, etc.

Graphite is normally very soft and slippery, and is even able to act as a dry lubricant when finely powdered, however many sources claim that graphite powder can be highly abrasive, to the point of potentially destroying milling machines. Does anyone know how such a soft material can abrade metals?

This is actually the exact same effect as the characteristic impedance of a transmission line, while pulse is traveling down it, the transmission line will appere to have a particular impedance, regardless of what is on the other end.

Tankies are the cringe "communists", authoritarians that beleave that no one but them (definitely not rich people) should have power. You can generally spot them because they often idolize the Soviet Union and CCP, despite the fact that both were/are authoritarian shitholes.

Sealioning is when you repeatedly ask someone basic questions in an attempt to annoy them or make it look like they don't have any. Often sealioners pretend they just want to engage in debate, but in reality ignore or deny any evidence or arguments presented.

Position on piracy, etc. (discuss.tchncs.de)

I am not familiar with the legal situation this instance's server and owner is in, are there any actions a user could take that could expose the operators to legal liability? Could the instance face problems if someone posts a link to pirated content? What about general discussion of piracy? Or any other possibly legally problematic content?

More 2d simulations of Maxwell's equations, this time demonstrating 2 mechanisms of dispertion in a waveguide.

Not exactly useful as the simulation is 2d, but cool.
