LLMs are not advancing enough any more. There just isn’t any more useful human generated text to train new models on. The net is already full of AI generated slop. OpenAI currently spends 2.35 USD to make 1 USD. It’s fundamentally unsustainable.

What enshittification? I haven’t noticed any dark patterns in the Bluesky app.

I’d gladly pay a subscription for a useable service than have ads plastered all over it. It’s infinitely better than the shitshow that is X.

This is happening over US bases in Germany and the UK too. Sure there is a heap of noise over the NJ sightings but to dismiss the signal entirely is a mistake.

Free will is a concept invented by St Augustine to get God off the hook for the garden of eden fiasco. There is nowhere in science that supports the notion of a self somehow separate from the causal nature of the universe.

***A push to legalise all drugs in New Zealand hasn't come from stoners and the strung out - it's backed by 155 academics and experts who say the current regime doesn't work ***

AKA common sense

Jones is a controversial force in the new Government, with his nakedly pro-mining stance criticised for being anti-environment. His meetings with industry heavyweights, including those in the commercial fishing sector, have led to accusations of conflicts of interest.

In one instance, Jones, also the Fisheries Minister, asked officials to develop a Cabinet paper on overhauling cameras on boats, after a request from a fishing boss who is one of his biggest campaign donors. Under the new Government, New Zealand has backed out of a proposal to restrict seamount trawling in the South Pacific.

Among the list of organisations that have been invited to apply are organisations associated with projects that would destroy a pristine mountaintop and rip up the seafloor.

It includes organisations that have lost cases in the Environment, High and Supreme Courts, with proposals roundly rejected through prolonged court action.

My car insurance through Trade Me (Tower) is about to renew and the new cost is 100% higher. Any recommendations for a new insurer or are we powerless to prevent these increases?
