I picked up No Man's Sky finally chomsky-yes-honey

I have about 35 hours in on it and am doing a mix between main story, side stuff, and fucking around with base building. I have a main base on a planet with red grass and floating islands, but I'm planning on setting up an oxygen farm on a new planet and making that my new base while using my freighter as well.

The game is scratching the itch for sure. I was never into Minecraft but this being basically "Minecraft in space" seems to work for me. I kind of wish they had modular space station type stuff like in X4 to make the stations seem less same-y and I wish storms happened way less frequent than they do but that's probably my only gripes so far. Oh, and making stair inside bases is a nightmare.

As a full time Linux user, I like that this is posted in Slop.

I just finished Das Kapital but don't have the energy to go through it manually right now lol.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 1 points 3 weeks ago

I'm planning on doing those as well since they are on my personal recommendation list in lieu of Das Kapital.

I actually am planning on doing this AI shortened version thing to a lot of what you have in your mega reading list. If it actually gets somewhere I can share them with you.

Of course it's already been done before lol. If this one is better I might just use it instead.

But mine's called "The Very Fucking Short Version" and I love that lol.

Hey odd question incoming.

I started a pet project for my local friend group of leftists where I am trying to take all the major theory texts and sort of ELI5 it for those that wanna learn but do t do well with dry reading. Basically it's geared towards ADHD and other ND leftists.

I did a test run with The Wretched of the Earth but decided to make the inaugural conversion be Das Kapital. Would you be willing to go over it and see if it all checks out once I have it done? I'm using AI to convert it and it's been a few years since I did Das Kapital so an extra set of eyes on it to see if it makes sense would be great.

I've done a litmus test a few times with my offline commie/anarchist friends and only ran across one person that knew of hexbear. His response was "that's still a thing?" lol.

Actually I guess he's still an online friend but he's a founding member of a neighboring chapter of the org I'm in. So not fully online friend?

Same. I feel like I need to start masking as a lib because the fascist rhetoric from co-workers is gonna get me fired. I try not to talk too politically but I have this one co-worker that is a straight up fash, and I'm gonna end up saying something. I just hope it's liberal-coded enough.

Honestly I was going off the assumption that China had to recognize the Cuban blockade in order to trade with the US. I'm probably not as informed on that as I could be.

[–] roux@hexbear.net 35 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

Why do we have 37,345 different socialist parties in the US?

[–] roux@hexbear.net 22 points 3 weeks ago (4 children)

The funniest outcome for this would be that China just stops trading with the US altogether and opens up trade with DPRK and Cuba.

I'm in the market for something different but, to no surprise of anyone, am getting overwhelmed by how blatantly consumerist fidget toys have become.

About a year ago, I picked up a cheap magnetic clicky slider fidget and though I wasn't a big fan of the actual toy, I did fall I love with concept. I ended up getting a few more from Etsy that are 3D printed and one is micarta, but those are amazing. Big tactile clicks, loud as fuck, and just a good thing to carry for anxiety and social stuff. My main one can be quiet if need be so that helps.

But...

I'm in the process of purchase therapy because depression, and instead of buying another game I won't ever play, I thought I'd treat myself to something that helps with keeping my hands busy.

So I am mostly looking for opinions and feedback on stuff that is out there. I have a spinner, several fidget cubes, putty, and some of the other normal ones. Right now I am looking at possibly a haptic coin, one of those 3D printed gyro things, the Lautie knockoff ratchet ring(though it's even outside my price range even for it being a clone) and I keep coming back to FidgetsByAmelie on Etsy but it's partially due to the cute colors they use and using bio plastics.

So yeah, I guess that's it. TIA!

Things I think I like:

  • rubber clicky buttons on fidget cube.
  • clicky scroll ball
  • clicky spinning wheel
  • switch
  • magnetic click/loud feedback
  • knife flipping to some degree
  • hair/beard rubbing(but that is built in)
  • metal "shink" noise from that OWL knockoff slider
  • probably any of the infinity style fidgets? Like cube or gear stuff

No for real, I'm bored. Ask me stuff lol.

I'm trying to not lose my mind debugging this stupid Android app. I'm jobless and don't know what I'm doing with my life.

Recently got diagnosed with ASD at 40. I'm severely depressed and suicidal. I listen to shitty music, read theory and pretend I understand it, oh and I'm super hungover because I suffer from alcoholism. I'm an open book so please don't doxx me <3.
