Y'all are dating?

Which country?

That doesn't really answer the question though, you just assumed that attackers would instantly figure out your system with a sample size of 1. How do they do that? Not saying that they definitely can't, but I want to see logical arguments before I believe it.

I doubt it can figure out whether a password system is secure. I'd be surprised if "leumSWydThIThBaPl!690720" didn't get a decent score, though.

[–] rumschlumpel@feddit.org 6 points 9 hours ago

On one hand, it's probably not that unlikely that an attacker gets 3 samples if the email or username gets reused a lot, on the other hand I wonder how well automated password crackers deal with systems like this. 'one good pattern with a couple of extra characters per site' seems like a pretty common password system.

I hate Meta-owned platforms.

It's true though, it's pretty much impossible to turn hard liquor or liqueurs into hard ice using normal (i.e. 'isn't made for science laboratories') freezers, and the liquor slush you get from ultra cold freezers isn't that great, either.

How exactly is not liking liquor slush a sign of alcoholism?

Good argument.

I think larvae are usually pretty meaty

but yeah, there's a reason why shrimp and lobster are so much more popular than insects.

I mean, I wouldn't complain if I got chicken nuggets that are just battered chicken filet. Would be much more expensive than regular chicken nuggets, though.

I expect that synthetic cheese based on actual casein (but made with bacteria etc. instead of mammals) will be fully market-ready and relatively affordable long before we get relatively affordable synthetic meat (the kind that's the based on cow/pig/etc. cells). It's mostly a homogenous mass, after all, which is a much smaller issue than getting the texture of steak right. IDK how affordable 'relatively affordable' is going to be, though.

The European Union’s landmark anti-deforestation law could fail to deliver on its environmental promises if enforcement authorities disproportionately focus on small importers while missing less obvious violations from major commodity firms, according to a new analysis by U.K.-based investigative nonprofit, Earthsight.

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR), which comes into force Dec. 30, 2025, aims to prevent new tropical deforestation from Europe’s supply chains for soy, beef, palm oil and other commodities. To do so, it will require geolocalized data from indirect and direct suppliers that prove their products didn’t contribute to deforestation since December 2020.

The largest importers “will submit due diligence statements accurately and on time. They will have due diligence systems in place. They will have correctly identified risks. They will have traceability systems of some kind in operation,” the report’s authors write.

“The problems with these importers will lie deeper. Their mitigation measures will be weak. Their traceability systems will have fundamental flaws, but these will be well hidden,” they added.

In February, Cargill, one of the largest exporters of soy from Brazil’s Amazon Rainforest and Cerrado savanna, took advantage of the EUDR to weaken already existing anti-deforestation agreements. The agribusiness pushed up its deforestation cutoff date from 2008, the year established by the soy moratorium, to 2020, the cutoff date set by the EUDR. That would allow the company 14 more years of deforestation without consequence.

“There is good reason to be mistrustful of such firms,” Earthsight’s analysis writes. “Unfortunately, there are reasons to fear they will nevertheless get an easy ride when EU Member States start enforcing the new law.”

In the Ivory Coast, Earthsight’s data show, the top 10 importers buy up 83% of the local cocoa. In Brazil, the largest 10 multinational import companies ship out 64% of the nation’s soy exports.

Small companies will have an additional six months to comply with the law after it comes into effect, but producing accurate paperwork may be more challenging. They often lack the financial and technical resources necessary to quickly set up comprehensive due diligence systems with all the data points required by the law, experts say.

According to a report by Profundo, the relative cost for EUDR compliance is three times higher for small and medium-sized importers than large importers.

Europe’s enforcers will need to focus more on the quality of the largest importers’ reports, Earthsight said, rather than simply check bureaucratic boxes. “Going after such small firms will be much easier … and [authorities] will be tempted to focus most of their energy on this,” the group writes. “For the law to achieve its aims, it is essential that [they] avoid falling into this trap.”

That community has apparently had similar bans in the past, and neither the community nor the server mention their rules anywhere I can find. I also messaged the mod to ask for a link to the rules, their reply was "You need to complete your sentences otherwise you’re going to get a ban."

Not sure if the mod just didn't like the content of my comment and made up a nonpolitical reason, or if their modding is really that arbitrary.

Absurd, was hierzulande mittlerweile als "Terror-Verherrlichung" durchgeht.

Ich finde, das kann man sich nochmal durchlesen. Lemmy verwendet übrigens auch die AGPL, wie anscheinend die meisten Fediverse-Proojekte.

Allgemein ein Thema, bei dem man schnell pessimistisch werden kann ...

Berlin’s immigration authorities are moving to deport four young foreign residents on allegations related to participation in protests against Israel’s war on Gaza, an unprecedented move that raises serious concerns over civil liberties in Germany.

The deportation orders, issued under German migration law, were made amid political pressure and over internal objections from the head of the state of Berlin’s immigration agency.

The internal strife arose because three of those targeted for deportation are citizens of European Union member states who normally enjoy freedom of movement between E.U. countries. None of the four has been convicted of any crimes.

Habe dazu leider keinen deutschsprachigen Artikel gefunden. @mods, sagt Bescheid wenn ihr das lieber in c/nahost haben wollt, aber das geht mMn weit über den Nahostkonflikt hinaus.
