For images with large blocks of solid colors and no gradients, frequently the opposite is true. Screenshots and avatars with solid(transparent) backgrounds are often smaller as png.

It drives me nuts seeing things like tweets (white and black text) being shared with crazy jpeg artifacting. They'd be so much smaller and so much less ugly as png

Looks like tripod equipment, either for photography or some other type of common thing. Some mics, video cameras, etc use that kind of mounting

Find me a dumb tv anywhere near the performance+size+price of a mid-to-high end smart TV right now. I can find some monitors but they're not well reviewed, not readily available to consumers, not meeting the same specs for e.g. HDR, wide gamut, or otherwise, while being wildly more expensive.

This is not a failure of the consumer. There is no way to vote with your money if you're looking for a good TV.
