Pushing Daisies is a really wholesome show, funny and what I found to be an interesting plot too.

I think you’re right! It can be nice to have an active local feed with topics you’re interested in, so that’s a good reason to pick a topical instance (eg mander.xyz or slrpnk.net).

Oh, very cool. This is the sort of mod that inspires new characters to take advantage of it, haha.

Great article! I appreciate how it addresses the commonly raised reasons and points to a way forward.

Unfortunately a decent amount of active communities are on lemmy.world – but here are some other cool places from my subbed list:

  • mander.xyz — this place has a lot of nature and science communities; their houseplant community is great, they have a native plant gardening community, a moss community (please join and post more moss!!), and more.

  • sopuli.xyz — they have a map enthusiasts community I like, popular steam deck and meme communities, EDC, and more.

  • slrpnk.net — they have solarpunk and zero waste communities, no lawns, etc.

  • lemmy.zip — has good game specific communities, like Disco Elysium, Hades, Starfield, Diablo, and others

I’ll also recco lemmyverse.net as a great way to browse the communities that are across the fediverse!

The plant’s doing good, thanks for asking! It’s really quite large so even after taking off the worst leaves it’s got plenty of foliage left. I did a treatment with neem oil spray last Sunday (two days after I scraped off all the scale I could see) and when I checked on it last night I didn’t see any new scale or sticky spots. Going to do another neem spray this weekend, and keep an eye on it… hope the buggers are gone but I don’t want to count my chickens too early!

I hope your snake plant recovers and grows back :)

I do all of my searching for communities on https://lemmyverse.net/communities - browse.feddit.de is another often recommended site, but I find Lemmyverse nicer to browse.

I was mostly referring to leaving out the 50 and above population, rather than the 15 and below population. That seems like leaving out a good chunk of adults to me, but I’m no expert.

Does the bit about non-participation means adults over 50 were less likely to respond to the survey?

At some point a week or so ago, someone posted a question asking what the best foods are to eat so to minimize (or eliminate) pooping for 3 days – and refused to explain why they needed this.

That post blew up, and for several days afterwards people were making references to it and jokes about it!

Haha, “an app from 10 years ago” is so true. I kept using AlienBlue through thick and thin for exactly the reason – it’s heavily text focused and all about the comments. No “cards” design or auto-playing videos or what have you.

The source in the image says the survey was from 15 to 49 years old; I’m not sure on the age demographics of India but that seems like it would leave out a large chunk of population.
