It would be like calling FEMA 'democrat run' when talking about the latest hurricane recovery efforts. It is literally true, but it is not relevant. To add it would only serve an editorial purpose, not a factual one.

What the actual fuck do these nutjobs think the FEMA workers are doing? Looting? Registering non-citizens to vote? Eating the dogs? What?

I have not noticed any threads content in Lemmy.

When I subscribe to someone's youtube channel through Newpipe, does their subscriber count on youtube go up? Or is subscribing just telling Newpipe to bookmark that content for me, but doesn't tell youtube anything?

The reason I ask is because the subscriber count on youtube could be an underestimate that way.

"Unlock the door" is a really strange way to say "lock the door." What a dolt.

Helping others to do their best, especially when it's something they are truly passionate about.

I mean, if we wanted our best and brightest (and most compassionate) to teach, we would pay them the best salary they could get with their degrees.

Note to good teachers out there (I'm a teacher too): I'm not saying there aren't any! I'm just saying that those doing the hiring can't afford to be terribly picky.

When kids don't trust their parents, there's usually a good reason.

Absolutely this. If anything is going to change, we're going to hear about those changes like this. If the reaction is always "fuck you -ACAB!" the change won't work.

I actually strongly feel that ACAB, but I'd like to live in a society that could have fair and just policing, not one without police.

The problem with Bill Maher has nothing to do with his age. He sucks, it's true, but lots of guys exactly the same age as him do not suck.

Bicycles predate automobiles by several decades and asphault was invented for bicycle use. Also pneumatic tires. Pedestrians had the right-of-way everywhere in every road until the oligarchs invented "jaywalking."

Automobiles were forced on the public, their popularity was manufactured. People don't even notice how unhappy and stressed out they are when they drive the brainwahing is that effective.

The complaint is not about the terms "systemd" and "segmentation fault." Those are the titles of the affected artworks. Presumably the artworks themselves contain some trademarked property.

Also, this is utterly unrelated to patents.

My instance has downvoting enabled, but I've learned that some other instances do not. Do the vote totals look different to users on different instances? It seems like some users on instances that don't allow downvoting are unaware that it's not the same lemmy-wide. It would be pretty confusing for them to see their vote go down.

Who are some other redditors you have found / would like to find here?
