The Razer wolverine v3 has some excellent back paddles (apparently), but it's expensive though.

So cool to see this featured on hackaday now as well! Good luck with the contest!

I didn't see anything in the article that suggested this.

[–] technomad@slrpnk.net 1 points 3 weeks ago

Good point. I didn't really think of it like that (or see it that way visually), but that would make sense.

[–] technomad@slrpnk.net 2 points 3 weeks ago

succinctly put, and relevant username.

Hate those sharp looking points on the bottom. Weird looking dpad too, but it might be alright. I wonder what size it will be and how the rest of it is shaped. I'm still waiting for that no compromises small sized handheld pc. The orange pi neo looked like it might have been just that, but seems like it just fizzled out or something.

For sure, I thought I was pretty much done with turn based. They just don't hold my interest the same way as they could when I was a kid. The active dodges and parries are pretty fun though, albeit difficult. I'm really surprised that they didn't implement timed attacks as well. There was another game that I played fairly recently, Sea of Stars, that did similar mechanics with timed attacks too.

I played BOTW on Wii U for a while when it first came out and (hopefully we can still be friends after this, lol) I couldn't get that into it. I didn't enjoy the weapon degradation system, which seemed to be a core concept. I don't know much about the modding scene for BOTW, but I wonder if there's mods that can change this and make it more akin to the traditional games in the series?

I bet the stamina mod helps a lot. I could see it being a really enjoyable experience, in a totally different way than the intended experience, with some of those basic changes like that.

I got stuck too, for a few rounds at least. I learned you can run past him and there's a grapple point just past. Nice work finally beating him though!

I meant to mention earlier too, if anyone doesn't know, there's also an audio cue as well for the dodge/parry timings.

Wholesome :)

I've been playing Clair Obscure a bit, definitely enjoying my time with it. I also played the Synthbeasts demo a little the other day. It's pretty good, but really needs a hotswap mechanic for controllers.

What mods do you have on BOTW?

Edit: Almost forgot! Also, I played the Haneda Girl demo for a bit too, it's really good!

I agree with the others that it's a bit too dense. Shortening it up and making it a bit more succinct would help.

Also, one small note (just add the word 'put'):

...kidnapped imprisoned & -put- in centers of detention...

Just a small note, the 'X' would be more appropriate if it was drawn on top of the crown instead of the other way around.

It's ok, I appreciate you clarifying. I just didn't think it was a very good comparison, that's all. Music, graphics, and gameplay all seem very different. The only thing that seems similar to me is the genre, but I didn't analyze it that hard and I haven't played it either so I could be missing things. It seems like it's going more for a ninja gaiden vibe or something.

I may still give it a go, thank you for posting about it.

It's super cool and all, but also kind of ominous? I feel like something more inviting might be a better fit.

Tagging along from one of the previous posts about people's jobs, what are your favorite things about your job. If you can't think of anything, then what are your least favorite things about it or what do you think you'd like to do instead if you could?

My favorite thing is the appreciation we get from passerby. I've never had a job where people are genuinely appreciative of what we are doing, and it's nice to get that feedback from people even though the work itself can be pretty difficult. If there wasn't that for my job, it would certainly be less rewarding.

My dog loves to go mountainbiking with me. This doesn't really work with a leash (obviously), so a training collar comes in very handy on the off chance he sees a squirrel or something and wants to chase (Otherwise he's very well behaved).

My issue is that the remote is not very easily/quickly accessible when I have it in my pocket. What I need is either, a training collar with a more 'handsfree' type of remote, or a different mounting solution for my current remote.

Current ideas include:

-wrist mount (like a watch or something maybe)

-arm mount

-chest mount/strap mount?

-handlebar mount

-belt mount

Let me know if you have any ideas, or if you know of an out-of-the-box solution that's not going to cost an arm and a leg. I don't need a super high end training collar, because his behavior isn't that high maintenance and also I can't really afford it either.

I'm wondering if you have any favorite fediverse resources for dog owners? Breed questions, training techniques, product recommendations, etc.

I think that would make a great community if there isn't one already. I've only run across #dogsofmastodon so far, but that is really more for just pictures I think.

Is there a way to use scrcpy without requiring my phone screen to actually be on?

It's been difficult to broach the subject and explain the technical concepts to the average person. I did have some success in first sharing the email comparison, which lead into interoperability.

I'm just curious to hear people's success stories, if you have any.

I'm using TetherFi to share my phone's internet connection. I understand how to setup the proxy settings in the browser on my laptop to get it working, and I've also been able to get Freetube working by changing the proxy settings within the app.

What I am wanting to know is if there is a way to set up a system wide proxy setting so that other applications on my laptop will work without having to go into each app individually. The desktop versions of my messaging app, steam, and the app store are all inaccessible to me currently and it would be nice to be able to get these working automatically through the proxy if possible?

I'm on Pop_os.

Avenza seems to be the go-to app. It works pretty well and all, but I'm wanting to know if there's any software available that can allow a team of people to simultaneously access and make edits/notes to a geo-referenced map. It also need to have kind of the same base functionality of being able to show your current location and all that. Ideally it should be designed for mobile first, but being able to access it from desktop too would be a plus.

So, just for one example, I could add a placemarker on the map, and any of my team members who are also accessing that map will be able to see (in real time) the placemarker that I just made. Does this type of feature exist?

Any recommendations? Are any of them usb-c rechargeable? Seems like most of the ones I'm seeing take AAA batteries.

Would this be an ok option for use on linux? Any thoughts on the brand, etc.?
