Reply of the Zaporozhian Cossacks

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reply_of_the_Zaporozhian_Cossacks

to the Turkish Sultan:

You Turkish Satan, brother and comrade of the damned devil and secretary to Lucifer himself! What the hell kind of knight are you? The devil s[hit]s and you and your army swallow [it]. You aren't fit to have the sons of Christians under you; we aren't afraid of your army, and we'll fight you on land and sea.

You Babylonian busboy, Macedonian mechanic, Jerusalem beerbrewer, Alexandrian goatskinner, swineherd of Upper and Lower Egypt, Armenian pig, Tatar goat, Kamenets hangman, Podolian thief, grandson of the Evil Serpent himself, and buffoon of all the world and the netherworld, fool of our God, swine's snout, mare's a[ssho]le, butcher's dog, unbaptized brow, may the devil steam your a[s]s!

That's how the cossacks answer you, you nasty glob of spit! You're unfit to rule true Christians. We don't know the date because we don't have a calendar, the moon [=month] is in the sky, and the year is in a book, and the day is the same with us as with you, so go kiss our b[ut]t!

So if there are two types of grapes at the store, one grown in Israel and the other somewhere else, and you pick those not grown in Israel you are potentially going to jail? Because someone can orchestrate your choice into being a boycott. This sounds so arbitrary and exploitable.

Frozen peas is the GOAT! Spinach is a close second. Fancy haricots to liven up presentation comes in third.

Going out I have lots of vegan options so that isn't an issue generally. And am not rigid in my principles, being a bit moderate makes me less of an obnoxious cunt. Easier to cook for, take along on outings etc.

If I hold hard on any principle it is that to not let perfect stand in the way of good. Being able to do 90% ethical consumption I find to be much better than failing to be 100% pure.

I'm kinda in this camp as well. Barely eat any meat and the meat I do buy is from small local producers where I can meet (hihi) and greet the animals.

Year long lowest possible to keep whatever fluids are in the radiators flowing. Not off but not too on either. And then open windows to regulate temperature.

My building is hot OK...

Haven't played any civ in ages but there should (could) be a setting "Only War" or something similar that makes everyone hostile to eachother. Or there may be a mod to the same effect.

It would be more work, more dishes etc. And the heterogeneity is nice.

Lazy tomato soup. Serves me (1)

Half a can of canned tomatoes (200g)

A red onion, diced

Garlic to taste

Your choice of protein (I loooooove chickpeas)

Add broth to desired thickness

Put everything in pot, simmer for 7-10 minutes and season to taste. Enjoy

A bar song in my ass

Will need some more gym and fitness clothes, especially of the colourful variety. Any suggestions of brands and stores?

Written by Joe Hill who succumbed to police violence.

After starting hitting the gym and clicking on a few videos (workouts, excercises etc) my feeds started being dominant with science hypertrophy. Probably because one of my favorite home cooks, Adam Ragusea because of his lean on actual published science, did a piece with Renaissance Periodization so cross pollination happened. And then it spiraled from here from the folks RP works with. And now it is so filled with science hypertrophy and that approach to lifting.

Now honestly I don't think I prioritize hypertrophy that much. I do appreciate it. But overall I'm more interested in making sure my body is as strong and athletic as possible so it can weather the ravages of time and daily life.

So I need a bit of help populating my feeds with "strength science lifters" and happily take recommendations. Those I already have are Strength Side (more athleticism and movement though) and The Bioneer (not the most concrete actionable content).

Short story: Today after cardio/strength class I casually repped out two sets of three good pullups while testing out grips I just got for myself. 2x3 like it was no big deal. I sure as hell looked flabbergasted after I did it. Just like that. Like it was no big deal.

Long story: I started hitting the gym November last year, especially the various classes offered. Some strength here and there to fill gaps and doing something productive while waiting for class to start. Have run into issues with deadlifts and negative pullups/hangs as the weight there both fatigues my hands to the point of them limiting but also (primarily) pinching a flab of skin to the point of pain. Done great progress on deadlifts. Tried gloves and they helped. But since it is the season, and I had been thinking of it, I decided to treat me to a whole bunch of straps and grips. Got them yesterday and today after a cardio/strength class it was time to try them out.

Did some light deadlifts and oh gosh what a difference. No more gripping for dear life (exaggeration). Of the ones I got my favorite became Ironmind's Sew-Easy, the other felt a bit too stiff. But that is probably just due to them not being worn at all.

After the deadlifts time for some hangs. Pulled up a board to get enough reach and strapped in. My hands loved me and then pulled a bit. Up I went. And then another, and another. Felt like it was a warmup set of pullups. Put on the grips and same thing happened, easy reps of pullups.

I CAN DO FUCKING PULLUPS!!!!!

Just wanted to shout that out. For those wondering gone from a 105kg active (15k steps a day at work and some cycling) dough-boy to 85kg guy with some visible toning.

Also I CAN DO PULLUPS!!!

From Swedish newspaper Dagens Nyheter that a cookie company have gotten lots of complaints. And look at the name of the CEO - Kakland which translates into English as Cookieland.

Earlier this week I put up the union's first poster board at our production facility. With that the work that is starting to get a club up and running really kicks off. There are a lot of work to get done before we are there, but we will get there. First two things on the agenda is to send more members to the union's three-day orientation course and get local union rep into various meetings the employer has. We have a law called Medbestämmandelagen (co-determing law) that gives the workers' organisation large rights to insight into how the company is run.

Having come across videos of that new Dragon Age game and its (by the look of it) cool looking combat I've gotten the urge for something similar. Action RPG of some kind, being able to rock on as a wizard and blast spells all day. Some tactical element to spell slinging and comboing would be nice.

Love me some recommendations!

Another local castle.

Built in 1635-38 as a renaissance castle in Kristian IV-style by Malte Juul, expanded and modernized in the 1780's by "Bygge-Hans" (Hans the builder, Hans Ramel). Bygge-Hans also had Höge Väg (High Road) built, a 1.3km long even road through the undulating landscape. Höge Väg took 50 years to build and every day the laborers on the estate had to carry one stone for the road. This led to them having said Vore inte herreman galen, så hade ej fattigman bröd, If the master weren't mad, the poor man wouldn't have bread (my translation).

The park is open for visits April to October but the castle itself is private property, currently owned by the Palmsteirna family.
