Community Rules

You must post before you leave

Be nice. Assume others have good intent (within reason).

Block or ignore posts, comments, and users that irritate you in some way rather than engaging. Report if they are actually breaking community rules.

Use content warnings and/or mark as NSFW when appropriate. Most posts with content warnings likely need to be marked NSFW.

Most 196 posts are memes, shitposts, cute images, or even just recent things that happened, etc. There is no real theme, but try to avoid posts that are very inflammatory, offensive, very low quality, or very "off topic".

Bigotry is not allowed, this includes (but is not limited to): Homophobia, Transphobia, Racism, Sexism, Abelism, Classism, or discrimination based on things like Ethnicity, Nationality, Language, or Religion.

Avoid shilling for corporations, posting advertisements, or promoting exploitation of workers.

Proselytization, support, or defense of authoritarianism is not welcome. This includes but is not limited to: imperialism, nationalism, genocide denial, ethnic or racial supremacy, fascism, Nazism, Marxism-Leninism, Maoism, etc.

Avoid AI generated content.

Avoid misinformation.

Avoid incomprehensible posts.

No threats or personal attacks.

No spam.

Moderator Guidelines

Moderator Guidelines

  • Don’t be mean to users. Be gentle or neutral.
  • Most moderator actions which have a modlog message should include your username.
  • When in doubt about whether or not a user is problematic, send them a DM.
  • Don’t waste time debating/arguing with problematic users.
  • Assume the best, but don’t tolerate sealioning/just asking questions/concern trolling.
  • Ask another mod to take over cases you struggle with, if you get tired, or when things get personal.
  • Ask the other mods for advice when things get complicated.
  • Share everything you do in the mod matrix, both so several mods aren't unknowingly handling the same issues, but also so you can receive feedback on what you intend to do.
  • Don't rush mod actions. If a case doesn't need to be handled right away, consider taking a short break before getting to it. This is to say, cool down and make room for feedback.
  • Don’t perform too much moderation in the comments, except if you want a verdict to be public or to ask people to dial a convo down/stop. Single comment warnings are okay.
  • Send users concise DMs about verdicts about them, such as bans etc, except in cases where it is clear we don’t want them at all, such as obvious transphobes. No need to notify someone they haven’t been banned of course.
  • Explain to a user why their behavior is problematic and how it is distressing others rather than engage with whatever they are saying. Ask them to avoid this in the future and send them packing if they do not comply.
  • First warn users, then temp ban them, then finally perma ban them when they break the rules or act inappropriately. Skip steps if necessary.
  • Use neutral statements like “this statement can be considered transphobic” rather than “you are being transphobic”.
  • No large decisions or actions without community input (polls or meta posts f.ex.).
  • Large internal decisions (such as ousting a mod) might require a vote, needing more than 50% of the votes to pass. Also consider asking the community for feedback.
  • Remember you are a voluntary moderator. You don’t get paid. Take a break when you need one. Perhaps ask another moderator to step in if necessary.

Hello!

I'm Arkhive (they/she), one of your new mods and I've just got a sort of update from the mod team.

We, the mods of Onehundredninetysix (hereby referred to as OneNineSix for my own sanity), would like to introduce ourselves. The members of the mod team that are interested will post a comment below this post and hopefully mingle a bit. Something that has come up in our discussions is a general interest in owning our actions, even in online spaces. That means putting people behind the names you see in the sidebar.

As the OneNineSix community coalesces, things have been quite good from our end. While we could be quicker at processing reports, a lot of that stems from us discussing choices as a group before making final decisions...and probably a bit more fear to use our power than is good for us, but time I'm sure will fix that proceeds to power trip. We are absolutely not infallible, and we also strive to admit wrong when necessary and work to rectify it. There is a degree of patience that necessarily extends both directions between mods and users, and in the end we are all users of the same space. We will work to be good stewards of this space for all those being good stewards with us.

And so! This thread. If this idea goes over poorly, please take it out in the replies to my comment, and we will assess and hopefully the other mods will dive in on the discussion too. We have also floated the idea of an irregularly occurring, semi-regular, mod chat thread. My pitch is for "Modly Mondays" but its still an idea in its infancy and feedback is welcome;)

Thank you for your time, thank you for the memes (the cat included), and I'll ~~remove~~ see you ~~from~~ in the comments.

TL;DR I'm Arkhive (they/she), I'm a mod, there's more of us (surprise!), and we'd like to introduce ourselves in the comments.

Side note: I realize this is being posted on a day there are protests happening across the US and presumably throughout the world. While this is not an explicitly US comm, I want to remind people to stay safe. Know your rights, know the ACLU phone number, have an exit plan, go as a group, and don't talk to cops. We keep us safe.

Join da official Matrix space!!! :3 https://matrix.to/#/#196-blahaj:catgirl.cloud

A few of u might maybe kinda probablynot remember the unofficial c/196 space started by me and euphoric.kat(who isnt in the community anymore but shes fine if anyone was wondering :3), but its pretty dead now and we havent bothered reviving it until now >v< but now that Im mod here and after someone suggested we could have a matrix space I figured it made more sense for it to be the space for this community now! :3

There r 9 rooms (General, Introductions, Shitpost, Tech, Queer Chat, Horny, Media, Pets, and Roleplay) and theres already some people since this is actually months old X3 there r 180 participants but very few r still around XP So we need YOU to uhhhh be gay and cute or something :3

Btw I was going to use that image for the original post on c/196 but didnt so I just edited it further for this post as u can see X3 idk the original artist but I got it from KYM https://knowyourmeme.com/photos/2340512-spronkus-kronkus

using an android phone running retroarch, an 8bitdo Zero Two wireless controller, and this 3D printable mount https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:5998094 .

works pretty good for gb/gbc titles, and its much smaller than other controller attachments! I've been using it for some gba stuff too, like Game and Watch Gallery 4 or Pokemon: Too Many Types, which don't require the L/R buttons.

if this makes you want to buy a controller, I recommend the 8bitdo Micro, which is the same size but with two extra buttons.

I don't know if the proof is right because answers to Rotman's exercises are hard to find (for me)

Tbh this should be marked as NSFW, math gore

EDIT: re-read it and I didn't mention that there are no factors that permute roots between g and h since the intersection of their Galois groups is trivial, also not sure if xi and gamma are even elements in the subgroup of S_n (they should be cause the proposition is true, idk how to explicitly show D:)

Limdimcomics.neocities.org

He just wants to share his art, comics, and characters.

And go make your own Neocities site!!!!

Most of Neocities has such an amazing "old internet"-feel to it. I love it a lot. (:

If you have any nice comments about the site, please leave some here. I'll read any nice stuff out to him this evening.

Much appreciated! Thank you! (:
