Title. If this were Reddit, I could at least see it from the angle of a large audience. But the Fediverse is far too small for that. It's like every other day there's some 1 hour old account posting their slop-coded crap to c/SelfHosted.

Like, yes, brand new internet rando, I'll totally install your vibe-coded slop that makes wild claims about being a super secure messenger or whatever grand claim you're making. I actually might it it was posted by someone with a positive history here, but these are brand new accounts seemingly unconnected to anyone otherwise active on this platform.

Is it just a "flood the zone" strategy on their part? I'm not active anywhere else anymore, so maybe they're flinging their slop all over and I only notice it here.

I'm watching Mandy's old RING 2 stream VODs (because I like watching grown men fail at slide puzzles, don't judge) and he lost it when the Lowry chat started posting gifs and photoshops of Morrow. I know that every single Lowry post is an incomprehensible rabbit hole of in-jokes and references, but I have nothing on Mr. Morrow other than the one appearance in his SOMA video. What context am I missing?

It might be a different user, a different community name, but it's always the same: mostly NSFW pictures (sometimes not even revealing), 0 comments and a ~-6 score. The pictures are mostly about an erotic/romantic encounter between two people. Then the community disappears, resurfaces with a randomly similar name, and the same happens again.

Why?

I've seen people posting tweets from public figures talking about alligators, seen other people joking about alligators. It appears to me that the issue is political, not environmental, but I don't fully get the picture.

Why are we doing them? What did I miss?

Why are so many companies updating their privacy policy lately, I noticed many companies including reddit and some games I play updating their privacy policies? Why is that, is it just a coincidence or something big happened?

I'm not very active on Mastodon, but saw this post - browsing the bluesky hashtag for a bit afterwards did not really give me much info. I can definitely imagine enshittification happening there, but what is causing the current drama in particular?

JD Vance didn't exist in my life before he became vice president. Now, I am aware that I also don't know anything about most vicepresidents in the world. But I've seen a lot of people who are also USA outsiders making comments about him as if implying something else, as if relying on facts everyone ought to know. I get the feeling most people have already heard about him from before and I'm late to the party.
