Weird, I can't seem to get there from pawb.social.

because everyone defederated with them

(Cis guy but can offer an answer to this) Hexbear is quite a large instance that was unfederated for a long time. It also has a strong and specific political leaning and a very particular instance culture. The combination of these factors has caused more than a little friction between hexbear and other instances - something I say with no intention to assign blame to hexbear specifically. While I have personally had plenty of what I will politely call strong disagreements with hexbear users I do think that the majority of it is innocent. It's a big instance with a brash culture and strong opinions, so a lot of people's experience with hexbear was "a lot of loud dogpiling anyone that disagreed with them" even though the hexbear users were just earnestly interacting with the fediverse as usual. This resulted in a whole heap of defederations, and pawb.social is apparently among the group that did that

That's one of the reasons I chose Pawb! Also, I am willing to blame them. A tiny little six-post thread gets thirteen pages in like an hour and it's all Hexbear users spewing memes and BS, making assumptions and attacking people? Yeah no, I don't need that. They can stay swimming in their cesspool of memes and derision; I'll have to scrape by out here with all' these horrible people who don't think and speak exactly like hexbears. It really was extreme and I don't miss it.

Seems kinda goofy calling it "just earnestly interacting," honestly.

I mean yeah I do think there are a lot of genuine arseholes there. I just want to be clear that despite my personal disagreements with them, I don't think those clashes are usually actual coordinated brigadings, and I'm hedging my language specifically because I'm aware that I personally find several of the people there quite unpleasant
