UK Politics
General Discussion for politics in the UK.
Please don't post to both !uk_politics@feddit.uk and !unitedkingdom@feddit.uk .
Pick the most appropriate, and put it there.
Posts should be related to UK-centric politics, and should be either a link to a reputable news source for news, or a text post on this community.
Opinion pieces are also allowed, provided they are not misleading/misrepresented/drivel, and have proper sources.
If you think "reputable news source" needs some definition, by all means start a meta thread. (These things should be publicly discussed)
Posts should be manually submitted, not by bot. Link titles should not be editorialised.
Disappointing comments will generally be left to fester in ratio, outright horrible comments will be removed.
Message the mods if you feel something really should be removed, or if a user seems to have a pattern of awful comments.
!ukpolitics@lemm.ee appears to have vanished! We can still see cached content from this link, but goodbye I guess! :'(

This feels like you fail to even have a basic grasp of the words you use.

Its always been said that Americans are generally pretty poor in their understanding of politics. They don't understand socialism, they don't understand the difference between socialism and communism, and they don't understand what a liberal is, getting it confused with communism and fascism depending on the day of the week.
Liberalism was used as the ideology to chop off rich peoples heads in France. Liberalism was used as the reason to remove royalty from the head of state in Britain.
NEOLIBERAL is a form of conservative fiscal liberalism to justify privatisation and deregulation.

Suella Braverman is simply a sack of shit.
Thats a lot of stretching, and absolutely nothing to do woth fucking liberalism. It's simply moronic.
I appreciate that books are a bit harder to read than Wikipedia pages, but I really do recommend it.
I'll be less glib: liberalism was used to justify French slave ownership too. It also has been the justification for global interventionist policy by the imperial core. "Bringing liberal democracy to dictatorships."
