About 12k USD for a small 1 bed 1 bath condo in a tier 2+ city

Uh, total or what?

I looked it up and some apartments in developing areas are around $30k but apparently there are a bunch of restrictions on foreigners buying property in China. And they don't allow a foreigner to buy a unit to rent, only for dwelling. Damn you, (based) Dictatorship of the Proletariat!
