So, we finally reach the centerpieces of the most tumultuous period of brony history — and after this point, both Friendship is Magic and Equestria Girls will really come into their own, as I see it.

What's the chef cookin' tonight?

• "Magical Mystery Cure" is often considered to be the most controversial episode of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, representing a paradigm shift that caused a whole mass exodus from the brony fandom, with many bronies believing this episode to be the series finale with the Magic Number 65. This musical episode (even the title is a Very Subtle Beatles Reference) is one of only two single-part season finales, and is the finale of the only "single-cour" season.
• Equestria Girls (2013) is generally considered to be the worst of the Equestria Girls films, and being the first installment in that spinoff, released between the season 3 finale and season 4 premiere... Was also certainly the most controversial Equestria Girls film at the time.
• "Princess Twilight Sparkle" continues from the season 3 finale, or Equestria Girls, or both, and sets up the mane story arc for season 4. Season 4 is notable but not necessarily unique for having an ongoing story arc; that arc will conclude with Yet Another Particularly Controversial Status Quo-Changing Season Finale, but we'll cross the bridge of what I call "the other pony 9/11" when we get to it in like 4 weeks.

I can't really get any more specific than that, if for no other reason than that I don't want to spoil you all.

We're starting the watch party half an hour early this time, so that we'll hopefully have time for an "aftershow" of sorts consisting of a 24-minute YouTube video by TobbyMLP about the fandom's reaction to the season 3 finale, and Silver Quill's equally-long "After the Fact" episode about the 2013 Equestria Girls movie — which is really more of a review, but it at least touches on some of the fandom's reaction to the movie, too. We might end up only having time for one of these videos or even neither depending on how things play out, but we'll see. Hopefully we'll have time for both videos!
