What were the queens moves prior to this. And what did a pawn become when it reached the other side.

I remember people always saying you could choose what piece you wanted. Though everyone most always chose queen of course. Though I could see someone choosing knight in certain circumstances.

Knight is rarely a better choice indeed, and it might even be optimal to choose a rook or bishop in extraordinary circumstances, such as if choosing a queen leads to a draw

In the Persian and Arabic game the bishop was a pīl (Persian) or fīl (Arabic) (meaning "elephant") which moved two squares diagonally with jump

It's not just a problem with fascism, the fucking authlefts/tankies are picking up where the fascists are not found. There's some lefty/regular turk communities and they're kinda bananas.

People in this country don't really like me so I kind of embraced foreign social media as a way of escaping reality. You may call it a "online gurbet" i guess.

Life is better these days since I've gotten a really nice irl safe space of mostly Boğaziçi students.

I hope the situation is better outside

I'm glad you are fitting in at university. The global economy is dogshit, so ... yeah, gurbet doesn't feel that much better, but to be honest, I'm doing ok. Better than in turkey under that fucker anyway.
