i've never looked at a bio and iirc links don't open in new tabs by default because of some accessibility standard that baffles me, this is awful for workflow and people won't do it because of the extra friction point.
idk if the bio can come up if you hover on someone's name, that sounds like lemmy dev things and still doesn't help mobile users and is probably not convenient for screen readers
Hence the second idea: as MLRL_Commie was saying, which was my own thought, "keeping at least one acceptable option next to your name keeps it a very achievable goal that everyone uses the correct pronouns for others".
At the same time, I don't actually personally find checking bios to be particularly bothersome, and do it regularly.
