I hate these jokes. It's like the boomer, "god wives are the worst amirite guys?!" jokes. It's really not that hard to enjoy shopping with your lady.

Edit: I just look for clothes for her with her. Sorry guys.

[–] RickyRigatoni@piefed.zip 3 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

No dorkus this is a joke about how clothing stores are 99% women's clothes and have maybe a tiny corner for men.

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Now that you pointed it out, I see the single shirt hanging in the last two panels. My first read of the comic was also "lol women love shopping" trash humor.

[–] Viceversa@lemmy.world 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

lol women love shopping

But they do?

[–] jtrek@startrek.website 2 points 2 weeks ago

Few statements predicated on "All women" are true. The same goes for many other subcategories of people.

[–] schmorpel@slrpnk.net 2 points 2 weeks ago

It's dreadful. A few years ago the "The wife did [insert silly thing tech-averse or shopping-obsessed person does] so I did [insert I-am-very-smart-action]" jokes were dying out, or so I thought. But hey, they are back en masse, and worse, re-done by a younger generation who fancies themselves emancipated and modern. Yuck. If you find living and/or spending time with your chosen person of the opposite sex so horrible please just don't?

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

I'd say it wasn't about "women shopping bad" but the amount of men clothing's in stores is borderline boring in comparison.

Women get 58382992 items in 2838473 colorful combinations, we got 3 pair of pants in black or lighter black. Slightly exaggerated maybe.

thrift stores, discount racks, and nordstrom's discount store is where i find interesting fabrics that no one else is buying.

Pros: you find interesting fabrics
Cons: you might end up dressing like me

make of that what you will

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

lol. dunno what nordstrom is, but yes. I found many cool stuff in 2nd-hand-stores. But there the same pattern applies btw. 97% women, 2% men, 1% whatever :) Though i often try to not shop there, as I feel kinda bad buying things others would need more.

Nordstrom is a rich people mall store in statesia. If you live in the states and have larger than DD cups, you probably have to shop there for bras if you don't buy online. I like their fabrics but cannot afford them. They have a discount store that sometimes has decent prices called the rack

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Neither live in the US nor shop for bras. As a male, this is kinda boring except for gifting :-) But I'd bet there are equally good bras elsewhere for decent bucks. Quality sure comes at a price, but it doesn't have to be expensive.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

They had a nice jacket I regret not buying, but I ain't got 700 in jacket moneys. It was so pretty tho

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

That's a lot for a silly jacket. I'm a very cheap cheapskate and this would be a big nono. But if quality is equal to the price then maybe...if one has it to spent...though I would prefer to invest 650 and get one for 50 😁

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 2 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

It was really pretty. I have been looking for one its equal for, uh, ten years or so. Maybe longer I can't remember I'm very grumpy I haven't found it in a thrift store yet.

[–] Dyskolos@lemmy.zip 1 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Understandably. If one finally finds "the one thing" and then can't have it and never finds something like that again is....frustrating 😁

I even have photographs of the label and everything. Papa taught all us shitheads how to document. Also to get receipts everywhere you go, but do jack shit with them (makes you look like a businessman)

[–] funkless_eck@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 weeks ago (2 children)

I ID with it. Women's thrifting is 90% of the store. Men's thrifting is the 4 things that will fit me that someone's uncle died in.

[–] HeyThisIsntTheYMCA@lemmy.world 1 points 2 weeks ago

you gotta find better thrift stores/cities.

[–] MeatPilot@sh.itjust.works 0 points 2 weeks ago (1 children)

Gotta branch out. I'm fairly certain a few thrift store shirts I have were left in the mens section by accident because the buttons are on the wrong side.

Fuck if I care, I like floral patterns - fight me bro.

Npt everything is an attack on women.
