Disney+ has "Verts". It's fucking ridiculous.
It's wild to watch these companies chase after one another with no thought. Just "TikTok is popular! Can we be TikTok?!?!???"
You have a product. Do that product well. Fuck!
CEOs are really herd animals, always looking what the other guy is doing and living in a continuous fear of missing out the next big thing. It sure doesn't help with shareholders breathing down their neck pushing for short term profit and growth.
Not just that, as the fucking hellish political environment right now is enabling greed at full throttle, as if the SEC doesn't exist.
I mean, do they have to fuck or is that optional?
I wish they were fuckin. Right now they're a wet noodle.
You get 2 chances at guessing the correct answer tot hat.
If I guess correct I get a tot hat? My nephews would love that.
Or are you calling me a tot hat?
My fat thumbs are a blessing 🤣
I fucking love Lemmy. This is what I don't get from normies that is plentiful here. In here, every little thing will turn into something to make fun of, and has the potential of turning into an entirely new sub-conversation.
Thank you for being like that, honestly.
To answer your question, you need to keep the 'hat' part, but the 'tot' can be anything you want, as long as it's kept to 3 characters. I would suggest starting with something like 'a..', filling the blanks, and going down from there. That's what I'm calling you, 'tot' was a typo 😁
I mean, I agree, but at the same time you've got to be trying to keep up or your business dies. Like, if blockbuster has tried to compete with Netflix instead of ignoring it, we'd still have blockbuster
Sure, but is this actually a good idea?
The argument would be that these "short form videos" improve discoverability. I can't speak for Netflix (since I'm not subscribed), but I am subscribed to Disney+. I completely agree that the discoverability in the Disney+ app is bad. But I'm also subscribed to Hulu, which is now owned (fully) by Disney. The discoverability in Hulu is actually pretty good.
Everything that is "Disney+ Exclusive" is only available using Disney+. Everything that is "Hulu Exclusive" is available on both Hulu and Disney+. So Disney+ has everything I want, but the app sucks.
The plan is by the end of 2026 to turn down the Hulu app and only use the Disney+ app. So, is Disney improving the Disney+ app? Nope, they're adding "Verts".
This is what bothers me. If you have an interesting idea to improve your app, do that. If you're just chasing the current flavor of the week, stop. Spend that time doing something useful.
It's also by far the slowest TV app in my experience. All the others are pretty snappy, but Disney+ is like special ed.
Block buster didn't have ads turning the movie, just some trailers you could skip. Plus when I went to block buster we'd find something(s) and go home an watch it. Not this scroll through a mountain of the same crap in different categories just to maybe find something after a much longer period of time.
Fuck we had it good with blockbuster.
No we didn’t. Blockbuster was the soulless corporation that killed all the smaller stores, which were actually good. Fuck Blockbuster.
https://www.cbsnews.com/news/blockbuster-sued-over-late-fees/
we also had ads in the store. you got good at tuning them out. i remember gettting lost trying to find a movie because i forgot we had an animated section. first day at the new store.
The only ads in the store I remember where card board signs similar to what you see at the theater. That's not at all the same as 1 or more 30 second unskippable add.
Who wants any of that?
