Unfortunately it didn't. Conservatives were immediately telling each other that "it wasn't that bad and tHe RaDiCaL lEfT were just taking it out of context." But as is often the case, the context does not make it any better.

He's a narcissistic psychopath who chose to break the Iran deal, but the context shows that preventing a nuclear-armed Velâyat-e Faqih is more important.

It makes it a little bit better. This was definitely a gotcha sound bite, but it did make me spurt out my drink when he said it that way. Lol.
