Controversy-tarred congressional candidate Maureen Galindo this week pledged to transform a site south of San Antonio now used by the Trump administration to detain migrants into an internment camp for “American Zionists.”

“She’ll turn Karnes ICE Detention Center into a prison for American Zionists and former ICE officers for human trafficking,” Galindo wrote in an Instagram post over the weekend, referring to herself in the third person. “It will also be a castration processing center for pedophiles, which will probably be most of the Zionists.”

Galindo maintained she only has an issue with zionists, or those advocating for the existence of a Jewish state in their ancestral homeland, rather than Jews in general.

“I think it’s actually the zionists who are putting Jewish people at the most risk,” Galindo told the Current last week.

Way too many of y'all are excited about the idea of concentration camps. It doesn't matter if they're your political enemies, concentration camps are bad.

Edit: I appreciate all of the shining examples of my point.

Over the last three years I've seen the most depraved carnage imaginable at the hands of the most gleefully inhuman humans imaginable. I want them gone forever and I dont care how it happens. And if you're gonna say "oh that sounds like what they say about Palestinians, isn't it ironic, doesn't it make you think" yeah that's the whole point, that's the golden rule, they should be treated like the monsters they treat others as. When they dehumanized others, they dehumanized themselves. This goes beyond what we are taught to think of as "political": they are my existential enemies, as are all fascists, because they consider us all animals to be killed.

You are far too cowardly to call yourself any variation of the word assassin.

I don't support throwing people without due process into some kind of confinement. But I do support genocide enablers getting prosecuted and thrown in prison.

[–] eldavi@lemmy.ml 5 points 13 hours ago

and into the same prisons that they threw others into, no less. lol

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah, that's a reasonable take. Rounding up people and putting them in concentration camps isn't

[–] somename@hexbear.net 10 points 13 hours ago (1 children)

People just speaking with energy, with frustration at the powerlessness of the situation. None of this is stuff is materially possible right now to implement. It's just venting.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com -2 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Right right right, just locker room talk. Nothing concerning about calling for your enemies to be put in concentration camps, we all do that when we're frustrated.

Not calling for people to be put in concentration camps. I think that's about as clear as I can make it. Concentration camps = bad. Jesus fucking christ.

[–] RiverRock@lemmy.ml 3 points 4 hours ago

If you still believe in superstitious childish notions of universal good and bad, you have no business making plans that concern the future of life on earth.

Reeducation, where possible, is good.

[–] Wakmrow@hexbear.net 3 points 4 hours ago

Not really an honest response. What is to be done about those committing a genocide.

[–] somename@hexbear.net 2 points 7 hours ago

When the polical opposition is committing genocide, sometimes we do

Let me quickly replace the word "Zionist" with "Nazi" to check how it sounds

"Put all Nazis in internment camps"

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 9 points 15 hours ago (1 children)

Yeah man, that's like one of the biggest problems with Nazis. We really just shouldn't be putting anyone in internment camps. If you wanna fight Nazis, fight Nazis. Slavery is not really ever a reasonable response.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 6 points 10 hours ago (2 children)

Stalin sent Nazis to the Gulags. The West kept Nazis in their political system. One of them still has a Nazi problem.

Now I agree that sending every single person who supports the existence of the Apartheid to an internment camp would be a bit impractical, but I don't mind some prominent Zionists going to jail for a decade or two.

[–] Loco_Mex@sh.itjust.works 1 points 4 hours ago

Russia has Nazis even today and they were the victims of Nazis.

[–] Assassassin@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 9 hours ago (1 children)

It's not impractical, it's barbaric. We have legal systems for a reason. The court systems may have issues, but that doesn't mean the solution is rounding people up into slavery. Just because Stalin did it doesn't make it right, that's a stupid justification.

[–] geneva_convenience@lemmy.ml 5 points 7 hours ago

We have legal systems for a reason.

That's what she's suggesting. Legally sending Zionists to internment camps.

[–] Futterbinger@hexbear.net 8 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

You're right but only because it's a waste of resources. All ICE agents current and former should be rounded up, knelt over a ditch, and shot.

[–] wyldrstallyns@lemmy.dbzer0.com 6 points 14 hours ago (1 children)

Kneeling them takes too long.

[–] Futterbinger@hexbear.net 4 points 13 hours ago

Watching their former coworkers forced to their knees before being unceremoniously shot rather than being allowed to stand on their feet and meet their end in a dignified manner plays an important role in breaking the spirit of the ICE agents waiting in line for execution.
