Enough Musk Spam

For those that have had enough of the Elon Musk worship online.

No flaming, baiting, etc. This community is intended for those opposed to the influx of Elon Musk-related advertising online. Coming here to defend Musk or his companies will not get you banned, but it likely will result in downvotes. Please use the reporting feature if you see a rule violation.

Opinions from all sides of the political spectrum are welcome here. However, we kindly ask that off-topic political discussion be kept to a minimum, so as to focus on the goal of this sub. This community is minimally moderated, so discussion and the power of upvotes/downvotes are allowed, provided lemmy.world rules are not broken.

Post links to instances of obvious Elon Musk fanboy brigading in default subreddits, lemmy/kbin communities/instances, astroturfing from Tesla/SpaceX/etc., or any articles critical of Musk, his ideas, unrealistic promises and timelines, or the working conditions at his companies.

Tesla-specific discussion can be posted here as well as our sister community /c/RealTesla.

How does the working class collectively make decisions that affect everyone?
Wouldn't they need some form of delegates representing them?
Cause those would also be politicians.

No, it wouldn't. The difference vs someone appointed as a delegate vs a politician is that the group can recall a delegate that is not representing them whereas politicians are on set terms (for the most part).

better to have a messy democratic system than an orderly fascistic one

Who decides which voting method to use?

Monkey paw curls

Congratulations, water now contains ivermectin instead of flouride.

the majority of even americans still support fluoride in the water, despite everything. there is a relatively small minority ruining the country due to representative democracy. heck, a majority oppose aid to israel and support medicare for all. direct democracy would make the US an incredibly better country

You're restricting your thinking to being solely within the current political system.

Direct democracies exist as an antidote to the problem of corrupt "representatives" and politicians; replacing them instead with delegates who can only communicate goals and have no political power to enforce them— that power remains with the people within a direct democracy.

So how do people in a direct democracy decide for example whether to defend their country militarily against an attacker, and how, or sue for peace?
Do you publish all your military intel on the attacker and the strength of your own forces and then hold a vote?
Who decides from which age on people are eligible to vote? etc...

Look into anarchism, all of these questions and whatever else you can think of have been answered.

Anarchistfaq is a site you can read on this more on.
