Star Wars Memes
Hello there. Somehow, Star Wars memes have returned. It's not a trap, this is where the fun begins.

Separatist systems:
Oh hey some real SW content for a change (perhaps):

Our galactic citizens have requested more specific rules, so here are a few.
The general idea is, if you're looking here for rules, you're probably someone who doesn't need to have them spelled out. You're fine. But anyway:
-
This is a community for Star Wars memes. This means typically screenshots of Star Wars media with some text or context that's meant to be funny and/or thoughtful. All SW media is welcome: movies, games, comic books, fanart... Other kinds of content, like video links or meta memes (about this community, or Lemmy), are fine as well, just keep it on topic.
-
We are all friends here, and love (sometimes love to hate) Star Wars. Be nice to each other.
-
As fans of fictional media, we can be passionate. If you very strongly disagree with something or someone, take a deep breath before reacting. Anger leads to the dark side!
-
Everything in Star Wars has happened a long time ago, in a galaxy far away, and it's a rich universe of millions of words and millions of years of history. So current Earthly matters really shouldn't concern us here. In other words, leave politics, philosophies and convictions behind the door. This applies even if it's about something related to Star Wars.
-
Original content is preferred. Reposts are fine, just please limit to a maximum of 3 per day, per citizen. It is recommended, but not required, to mark original memes as (OC) and reposts as (repost).
-
Local mods are the Jedi council. They may take actions that are necessary to maintain peace and stability of the Republic, even beyond the rules outlined here. Follow their guidance.
-
Regular rules of the Lemmy.world instance apply.

Then what's the story with Vader doing it in RotJ?
He stopped being a Sith and then mastered the technique really fast by being a chosen one. It's like that one scene in Kung Fu Panda 2
Great, now I want a kung fu Vader training montage. Maybe Palps throwing handfuls of sand at vader while he balances bowls of blue milk on his "limbs" and head.
According to this 28 year old theory, it's because he died in front of Luke.
There's no dark or light side, there's just trying to die in front of Luke.
Brilliant
That's where the controversy comes into play. Cuz the whole force ghost mechanics were written after similar to midicloreans....
There's basically a few explainations.
It's part of his redemption
His midicloreans... / natural affinity with the force
His connection with obiwan, quigon, yoda who all helped him trancend.
Makes for a good ending. (The original reason probs)
...
In an alternate timeline where Lucas finished all 9 movies I could see him re-releasing the movies with some choice edits. Similar to this but a little less tongue in cheek.
Fun fact: it was intended to be a 12 part series, like the Flash Gordon or Buck Rodgers serials of the 1930s.
But critically NOT during the first movie. During ANH nobody expected there to be a sequel.
George always wanted it to happen, but if I recall correctly you are right, it wasn’t even called A New Hope or had the title crawl until It was re-released shortly before Empire.
I don't doubt he had a bigger story. The conflict between the two mentalities is what led to humorous bits like the Luke & Leia kiss before the knew they were related.
As I understand it George was the ideas man, part of the reason the prequels went off the rails a bit is because he removed himself from people who had helped the original trilogy be what it is, people like Lawrence Kasden. I’ve always been curious which one of them had them kiss and which one of them decided they were siblings as much of Empire was written by Kasden.
Dunno whose idea it was. They were teasing a love triangle originally and didn't decide to make them siblings until ROTJ when George realized he needed to condense things.
I'm willing to accept all of the above.
Why you gotta poke a hole in this guy's awesome theory? So mean.
But yeah...
Maybe there's an explanation though. Like, Vader is just super powerful and figured it out while in his meditation sphere?
It's a pretty widely discussed plot hole. But like plot holes are what you get when you start writing a story that you never expected to finish and then after you finish it decide that was the middle of the story.
