You can beat it on the hardest difficulty and no deaths without child labor with enough micro management. I found Frostpunk really really difficult until it suddenly became a little tedious when I understood the micro meta

The biggest thing that helped me was the ring hack that let's you start the game with an extra house in the heated zone.

Any amount of unhoused or sick people immediately snowballs and either kills the run or causes you to fall behind significantly. So being able to just not deal with that at the beginning is the equivalent of learning the boar meta in AoE2
