I mean, I guess I shouldn't say "surprisingly" because that's sort of an insult to all the positive reviews it has. But still, I was hesitant based on the trailers making it look like it's too repetitive and simple relative to FTL and Slay the Spire.

It's pretty satisfying to have modules that chain with each other in generating more and more energy after you've spent your last cell. It's really cool to see an enemy set to annihilate you even when you're at max health, only for you to cleverly manipulate your energy numbers and generate more to turn the tide all the way to even striking them instead. It feels like a "slower" Cobalt Core (even though they're both turn-based).

I played a bit of it before bouncing off. Agreed that system complexity does build in a cool way, but I found that ultimately the actual combat 9 times out of 10 boiled down to "okay put the cards in the only places that make sense for your build and then you should have big number." That being the case, I would have liked to get back to the design part of the cycle more often and more quickly.

Though I did have fun, so maybe I'll give it another shot, talkig about it is warming me up to another round.

Make sure to post about stuff like this within the week they're up for grabs if you can, so others can grab em if they missed them

I couldn't get around to playing it until it was already the week of the next giveaway, but I'll try. Very few of these giveaways are good by my personal preference so I don't play often.

Try different modules that you don't normally get. It's really quite fun to get that random duplicator. My current run is focusing more on white and I got a module that doubles the whites in the 3-space module ahead of it; pretty wild!
