Yeah, I'm pretty sure the South African heir to a family fortune including an emerald mine needed there to be starving children just to get hard... Till the ketamine made that a thing of the past.

Its funny to think the guys only talents are existing wealth and super favourable PR. I wonder if he will be the first trillionaire to die of a drug overdose or if he will fall victim to the same country he regularly and repeatedly fucks to "make" his "money".

Well yeah, but then again no. He sells well to a particular segment. Also it really wasn't that long ago he was regarded as essentially real life Tony Stark by a wide enough chunk of the world that they could just massage the media to make that the reporting.

People still buy Teslas, people still use Twitter, and people still use Starlink... I don't know what to tell you but the super power of buy other peoples shit, file off the serial numbers and pretend you are a genius has worked for him and continues to work for him.

Then again just because their are idiots buying into this doesn't mean its good PR. Good PR gets both the idiots and the regular folk. You cannot sieg heil and te me that's skilled PR.

Oh no the shine has worn off for people with the smallest hint of principal. Before I could be bothered learning anything about him, shortly after he acquired Tesla I didn't have enough incentive to learn anything about him. Ergo my mental picture of him was vaguely aligned with the image he was curating.

About the same time I heard him speak the first time I realised he was a fuckwit who only managed to get where he was via family money and failing upwards.

Same as I broadly didn't mind the first Tesla I saw, these days I wouldn't buy one under any circumstances. Part of that is all the car people I know pointing out how shit they are, part is how cringe everyone who owns/drives one is, and the rest is a deep-seated desire to not give that fuckwit any more money.

He's only made more money and power since the salute and the failed Mars project.

The markets need a Jesus with advanced tech. If one doesn't exist, they make one up.
