Unfortunately I think that in reality Canadians have almost as much work to do on their own government as Americans have to do on ours before they can be considered anything but than one of the US's closest allies and supporters.

Yup we are suffering from many of the same political movements. Our paths run in parallel, as Canada doesn’t have the finances or population to take a solo stand against them. Furthermore, we have a growing number Maple MAGAs, who I find even more perplexing than American ones, because why would you cheer for the US to succeed by slapping you in the face?

And in reality, we were a British colony during the war of 1812, so the credit for torching the White House should really go to them.
