Ask Lemmy
A Fediverse community for open-ended, thought provoking questions
Rules: (interactive)
1) Be nice and; have fun
Doxxing, trolling, sealioning, racism, toxicity and dog-whistling are not welcomed in AskLemmy. Remember what your mother said: if you can't say something nice, don't say anything at all. In addition, the site-wide Lemmy.world terms of service also apply here. Please familiarize yourself with them
2) All posts must end with a '?'
This is sort of like Jeopardy. Please phrase all post titles in the form of a proper question ending with ?
3) No spam
Please do not flood the community with nonsense. Actual suspected spammers will be banned on site. No astroturfing.
4) NSFW is okay, within reason
Just remember to tag posts with either a content warning or a [NSFW] tag. Overtly sexual posts are not allowed, please direct them to either !asklemmyafterdark@lemmy.world or !asklemmynsfw@lemmynsfw.com.
NSFW comments should be restricted to posts tagged [NSFW].
5) This is not a support community.
It is not a place for 'how do I?', type questions.
If you have any questions regarding the site itself or would like to report a community, please direct them to Lemmy.world Support or email info@lemmy.world. For other questions check our partnered communities list, or use the search function.
6) No US Politics.
Please don't post about current US Politics. If you need to do this, try !politicaldiscussion@lemmy.world or !askusa@discuss.online
7) No Hit-and-Run questions.
Please don't delete your post for no apparent reason. If you plan on deleting a question later, say so in the post, or if you feel that you have a good reason to remove it, message a mod beforehand. It's not fair to the ones who took their time to answer, and it's not in the spirit of the community.
Reminder: The terms of service apply here too.

My belief in the fact others work with passion if time and money is given as asked.
Never do I question the price or time taken anymore because I can afford it now, since I'm no longer working minimum wage.
My mechanics and electricians can't figure out anything on my car.
My home exterior worker was supposed to be here 3 weeks ago and still hasn't come even though I paid 60% of it in advance.
The guy that fixed my roof drains (idk their actual name) had to fix it twice even though I told him to charge me more just to make sure it's done right the first time.
My autobody technician fixed a part of my door that had paint peel and it's peeling again just a few months later.
I'm fucking disappointed. I thought if I gave them time and money they'll do things right. But no. It's the fucking same... They don't give a damn about me, my house, my car, my time, or my money...
I'm gonna be honest here, sounds like you need to be more selective in who you trust for your various services.
The way you describe these people, it sounds like you're going with your "uncles friend" type of people or the trashy companies that are ran by someone pushing their staff to do quick/slop jobs for high profit.
Get that exterior worker to small claims before their business mysteriously dissolves into oblivion.
You can can give me a million dollars to paint your ceiling, but that's not going to make me Michelangelo.
You need to find the people that take actual pride in their work, which is incredibly hard to do. Failing that, the established businesses that stand behind their work. If that autobody tech doesn't warranty the paint job, they aren't worth your business. If the guy re-fixing the drains is covering it on their own dime and making it right without a fuss, then that's something to remember next time. Everyone makes mistakes, its how they handle them after the fact that's important.
Having taste of what is a good work is already a challenge, taking pride in your work is a lifetime pursuit. Insanely hard to find people that love what they do and apply themselves constantly against it!
oh they definitely care about your money
