THE POLICE PROBLEM

The police problem is that police are policed by the police. Cops are accountable only to other cops, which is no accountability at all.

99.9999% of police brutality, corruption, and misconduct is never investigated, never punished, never makes the news, so it's not on this page.

When cops are caught breaking the law, they're investigated by other cops. Details are kept quiet, the officers' names are withheld from public knowledge, and what info is eventually released is only what police choose to release — often nothing at all.

When police are fired — which is all too rare — they leave with 'law enforcement experience' and can easily find work in another police department nearby. It's called "Wandering Cops."

When police testify under oath, they lie so frequently that cops themselves have a joking term for it: "testilying." Yet it's almost unheard of for police to be punished or prosecuted for perjury.

Cops can and do get away with lawlessness, because cops protect other cops. If they don't, they aren't cops for long.

The legal doctrine of "qualified immunity" renders police officers invulnerable to lawsuits for almost anything they do. In practice, getting past 'qualified immunity' is so unlikely, it makes headlines when it happens.

All this is a path to a police state.

In a free society, police must always be under serious and skeptical public oversight, with non-cops and non-cronies in charge, issuing genuine punishment when warranted.

Police who break the law must be prosecuted like anyone else, promptly fired if guilty, and barred from ever working in law-enforcement again.

    That's the solution.

Our definition of ‘cops’ is broad, and includes prison guards, probation officers, shitty DAs and judges, etc — anyone who has the authority to fuck over people’s lives, with minimal or no oversight.

RULES

Real-life decorum is expected. Please don't say things only a child or a jackass would say in person.

If you're here to support the police, you're trolling. Please exercise your right to remain silent.

Saying ~~cops~~ ANYONE should be killed lowers the IQ in any conversation. They're about killing people; we're not.

Please don't dox or post calls for harassment, vigilantism, tar & feather attacks, etc.

Please also abide by the instance rules.

It you've been banned but don't know why, check the moderator's log. If you feel you didn't deserve it, hey, I'm new at this and maybe you're right. Send a cordial PM, for a second chance.

This any of you guys' last straw?

Well, alright then, see you back here tomorrow.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -4 points 4 days ago (3 children)

Armchair revolutionaries are totally not useless pieces of shit.

[–] grrgyle@slrpnk.net 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

What would you do? Genuinely curious

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Seems you responded to the wrong comment, since I've no idea what you're asking. I'm mocking an idiot for pretending to be a badass on the Internet.

[–] floquant@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 4 days ago* (last edited 4 days ago) (1 children)

"Non-Americans should just get on a plane and come fight for us!"

Who's the armchair revolutionary?

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago* (last edited 3 days ago)

Yes that was absolutely said /s

You actually believe that expression means "no, you"? Hard to believe you're that dense. I could be wrong though.

With enough heat and pressure, these shits can be diamonds. A little global warming and some food insecurity might do.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world -4 points 3 days ago (2 children)

With enough shutting-the-fuck-up, armchair revolutionaries can once more pass as bearable human beings. A little this-guy-pretends-to-have-empathy and this-guy-isn't-actively-being-an-idiot might do.

Start voting with bricks instead of paper, the French know what's up.

There's a reason I'm on TOR, btw. Kill47.

I go to rallies and food drives almost every other weekend. Please do half of what I do, then get back to me.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago

I'm sure you are violently attacking the United States government and are very much not full of shit.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -1 points 3 days ago (2 children)

how much does the NSA pay you?

[–] luciferofastora@feddit.org 1 points 2 days ago

I doubt the NSA would pay anyone to talk shit to an audience as small as Lemmy.

I generally don't think people here at intentional or conscious mouthpieces of opinions they don't share. It's more likely that they disagree or misunderstood something, know something you don't, don't know something you do know, have a different perspective or whatever. We're all better served attacking the statements than the people making them.

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 0 points 3 days ago (1 children)

This is a delusional question. Delusional like your claim that "CHRISTIANS ARE PROSECUTED IN THE SOUTH", whatever that means.

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf -2 points 3 days ago (1 children)

in the global south and ad hominem?

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 points 3 days ago (1 children)

I don't know why you're bothering me. Can you not?

[–] IAMgROOT@lemmy.wtf 0 points 2 days ago (1 children)

when faced with a logical argument

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago (1 children)

Okay dipshit tell us what you're fucking talking about instead of pretending you have. If there's any fucking thing you could say you probably would have by now. But what do you do instead? Mumble an incomplete thought that seems to make no sense. I happen to know for a fact that Africa is heavily Christian and any isolated incidents of Christian persecution (not prosecution you fucking moron) are barely worth mentioning. So either shut the fucking hell up or make a fucking point. You've said nothing and pretended everyone else is an idiot for not reading the non existent point from your dull mind. Why do people like you even talk? You make the world a worse place. You defend the agressors and then bitch when people call you the fucking moron that you are for it.

Africa is not a country

most of asia is anti-christian

[–] TrickDacy@lemmy.world 1 points 2 days ago

Hey fucktard, are no one said Africa is a country, but you your stupid pathetic troll ass knows that. Okay so far, in dozens of messages, you have managed to type information equivalent to two thirds of a sentence. Congratulations. If I had 1000x more patience we might someday get to a paragraph.

Btw "most of Asia" isn't a country. But in all lowercase because I'm too stupid to type. /s

Blocking your stupid troll ass now...
