Ah yes, Troy Jackson...
The "progressive fresh blood" who entered politics almost 30 years ago as a Republican over the issue of...
Stopping immigrant labor...
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Troy_Jackson_(politician)
He appears to have changed and earned Bernie's endorsement when he was running for governor
Millionaires love him at least...
Including a former managing director at Blackrock:
https://patrioticmillionaires.org/people/troy-jackson/
But Bernie has wide appeal, and has known this guy since he was a DNC superdelegate in 2016 and was one of the few who voted Bernie over Hillary.
Endorsing him for Governor makes sense, and he might have already endorsed him for taking Platners spot if Platner drops.
But Jackson is 58, he's at that age where people naturally fall back to their old ways of thinking. Senate terms are 6 years long, he'll be more conservative than today six years from now, that's just how the brain works.
Bernie is only still leftwing at his age, because he's always been leftwing. Jackson and others that became more liberal in their 30s/40s, reverse in their 60s. Because they start to lose the critical thinking that made them leftwing later in life.
He’s been a Democrat for over 20 years and endorsed Bernie each presidential campaign he ran and was actually endorsed by the DSA, unlike Platner. These are not ‘new’ beliefs. So odd we get these ‘people can’t change’ opinions about politicians while leftists (assuming you’re one too) also believe in prison abolition/reform. You can’t have both.
You also just don’t seem to know what Patriotic Millionaires is
...
Are you really arguing it's better to elect a rapist over another Dem candidate because he's 58 years old?
Really?
Based on the replies on various stories here, we might be disappointed by that answer...
He’s 58 dude. Guess we can’t elect anyone progressive over the age of 50 out of fear they might turn conservative. Chris Van Hollen’s gonna turn into Reagan reincarnated any minute now
You're acting like this is opinions and not science bro...
https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC2683339/
He's gonna start losing his mental abilities, which means he starts acting like he's 20 again.
It's 100% normal.
The problem is he was an anti-immigrant republican back then. He's going to continually get more and more conservative, why are we signing him up to get handed a six year senatorship?
Why does this have to be a rush decision?
You're aware he can step down just as easily after the election, right?
I am aware of how aging works, yes. I’m also aware that you are not guaranteed to turn into a conservative once you’re past 60 and not everyone’s cognitive decline happens exactly the same at the exact same ages
No one said that...
I said people start to act like they're 20 again, which is backed up by decades of research and the entire fucking MAGA movement itself man....
Im sorry buddy, I gotta hang my hat up here, best if luck
And Platner went on several tours in Afghanistan including as a voluntary contractor.
Bernie likes loyalty and has a blind spot for people who support him, so I don't view reciprocal endorsements from him very highly. He also brought Tulsi Gabbard in and she was rotten way before turning to Trump.
Platner himself endorsed Jackson though, so hopefully they're more aligned in outlooks.
I really don't know how someone goes from being the most insider of insider politicians to an outsider populist without it being an opportunistic move though.
I think the really important thing is that if he drops out, Platner decides his replacement. Anything designed by establishment insiders is going to reek of an establishment coup. Even running a new primary is questionable because it takes time for an outsider to establish themselves as a viable option. People reliably just rank names they know when asked out of cycle who should be the next whatever.
Who’s now endorsed by the DSA, which probably isn’t good enough for you I’m guessing

It's a weird look when if someone doesn't reply in five minutes you start replying to their other comments trying to have the same conversation...
Just wait bro, not everyone has unlimited free time.
Because I wasn’t responding to this original comment, dude, it’s a new conversation. I am so sorry you were weirded out by that.
How dare you have multiple conversations on a platform that encourages and revolves around people interacting and having conversations! /s
This all seems pretty suspicious.
I hate to say this, but the accuser sure picked an interesting time to come forward.
She didn't pick this time...
I forget which article it was because they seem to be posting them constantly, but in one of them they quote the accuser as saying the NYT approached her months ago for the primary hit piece and that she didn't want to say anything more then she did back then or have her name made public, that's what the recent emails to her therapist was about.
But NYT pushed her not just to do more interviews.publicly, but pushed her to follow the same "one week before deadline" timeline they did when they tried this in the primary.
Shes being manipulated just like Lewinsky was, that doesn't mean she's lying. But a lot of "journalists" who work for pro-genocide oligarchs have spent months setting this up for the sole goal of getting Platner to drop out of the race.
They don't give a shit about if he would be held accountable if guilty, or justice for any actual victim(s).
The sole motivation of the people at NYT and Politico pushing this is to stop a progressive that's against Israel from making it to the Senate. They'd rather slide a Fettermen in last minute.
If he drops out, they'll never be an investigation and people will assume he's guilty, they already are to disappointing extents.
The whole thing is fucked and it's concerning so many seem to be falling for it.
She came out with enough time for another candidate to be chosen. It was now or never.
Now or never or... during the primary when people could have had time to choose a new candidate.
She has explained why she hesitated to come forward.
She explained why she was reticent to come forward. That's not an answer about why not earlier. She had other options and ended up at a very specific political window.
It could be simple avoidance of an unpleasant task until the last possible moment or it could be in response to the Republican's accusation not taking off or it could be she was intentionally pressured to release when establishment politicians could insert their own choice. But this wasn't the only option and its timing may impact millions of lives.
You reducing reporting rape down to this is....inaccurate.
It was going to impact many lives regardless because Platner decided to run knowing he had all of this in his past.
Going to the public and recounting a traumatic event is an unpleasant task. Fuck off with these stylistic gotchas like there would be some magic words that you'd accept to describe a basic human response to something they don't want to do.
It’s traumatic but ok. I was willing to level with you here and have a conversation but clearly you just want to be rude.
Fuck off. I don't think you've been looking to have a conversation since this story broke. You've decided there's only one acceptable response, which based on the "he's a secret Nazi" responses seems like it was already in place before the new allegations, and anyone else with other concerns in a breaking story impacting the entire nation must be a rape apologist.
As if you’re open to conversation on this yourself? Youve decided the only answer to this is conspiracy theories.
No, I’m not patient with people who want to outright victim blame and pretend like it’s crazy for a man seeking power to force himself on a woman.
