Before everyone jumps on the "good riddance" bandwagon, please keep in mind that the main US government facility for building and maintaining nuclear weapons is in Texas.
The government would never let Texas leave the union, and if by some miracle they actually did I'm sure those weapons and facilities would be forcibly repatriated.
Texas can't even keep their own lights on, I think it would be hilarious to watch them try to go it alone. But it won't ever happen.
Texas leaving and the U.S. extracting its nukes would be the best scenario. Horrible for a lot of people in Texas, but better for the world at large.
Depends, do you think the ethnonationalist psychos in Texas are more reasonable than post-soviet bureaucrats? Similarly, would the limp-wristed dems who seek to heal the divide at all costs be willing to actually do anything if they said no?
Provided they don't do away with it first. (But yeah I generally agree with you)
It might be fun for a short while to watch the two sides in a US civil war nuke each other, but given the terrifying number of American WMDs the clouds would probably still envelop the rest of the Earth and kill us all. Oh well.
Good they can piss off too. Heck they can take all our nukes
