I don't even talk about it because it's not important now, but for me I was weaned off GWB conservative jingoism well before I commissioned but it seemed like a good career that my family had done for two generations. When I realized how much harm I was actually doing I resigned as soon as possible and spent a long time in a very dark mental place. The thing that opened my eyes was the "peacenik" Obama blowing up three hospitals in four weeks and I think I deserved all the mental anguish because brown people being fellow human beings is something I think I should have just known without having to learn it, and also it was not nearly as bad as what we were inflicting daily.
well at least you know now you did the right thing. on a level cops and soldiers are victims as much as they're guilty. Some of them more than others. But what you did, thats true bravey.
Bravery would have been risking unemployment after college not whatever the fuck I did lol
On the positive side, I've found comrades who are vets are usually the best at talking to other vets to get them to join revolutionary orgs.
I’m not sure I’d seek them out specifically. Lots of reactionaries; I think marginalized groups are where to look but as a cishet white guy that’s a lot more challenging
I definitely wouldn't seek them out specifically, but when they wander in with a radicalized viewpoint looking for a way to contribute, it's usually one unique way they can help that others can't or would find more difficult.
