Welcome to c/news! We aim to foster a book-club type environment for discussion and critical analysis of the news. Our policy objectives are:

To learn about and discuss meaningful news, analysis and perspectives from around the world, with a focus on news outside the Anglosphere and beyond what is normally seen in corporate media (e.g. anti-imperialist, anti-Zionist, Marxist, Indigenous, LGBTQ, people of colour).

Link titles: Please use informative link titles. Overly editorialized titles, particularly if they link to opinion pieces, may get your post removed.

Content warnings: Posts on the newscomm and top-level replies on the newsmega should use content warnings appropriately. Please be thoughtful about wording and triggers when describing awful things in post titles.

Fake news: No fake news posts ever, including April 1st. Deliberate fake news posting is a bannable offense. If you mistakenly post fake news the mod team may ask you to delete/modify the post or we may delete it ourselves.

Link sources: All posts must include a link to their source. Screenshots are fine IF you include the link in the post body. If you are citing a Twitter post as news, please include the Xcancel.com (or another Nitter instance) or at least strip out identifier information from the twitter link. There is also a Firefox extension that can redirect Twitter links to a Nitter instance, such as Libredirect or archive them as you would any other reactionary source.

Archive sites: We highly encourage use of non-paywalled archive sites (i.e. archive.is, web.archive.org, ghostarchive.org) so that links are widely accessible to the community and so that reactionary sources don’t derive data/ad revenue from Hexbear users. If you see a link without an archive link, please archive it yourself and add it to the thread, ask the OP to fix it, or report to mods. Including text of articles in threads is welcome.

Low effort material: Avoid memes/jokes/shitposts in newscomm posts and top-level replies to the newsmega. This kind of content is OK in post replies and in newsmega sub-threads. We encourage the community to balance their contribution of low effort material with effort posts, links to real news/analysis, and meaningful engagement with material posted in the community.

This refers to polling, pundit reactions, electoral horse races, rumors of who might run, etc.

I think your analysis is overall very good but I want to flag one thing
Is a bad take. The org I am a part of actively organizes sex workers among others (both hookers and dancers, not so much porn actors/models) and probably a quarter of our cadres are such. A large majority of the sex workers we organize with in our specific local area consider their work preferable to other jobs under capitalism, for a variety of reasons. Conditions vary widely from region to region and from industry to industry within the exceptionally broad category of sex work, much as the specific experience of manufacturing workers will vary wildly based on region, industry etc. Broad and inaccurate generalizations are not necessary to argue that sex workers face unique forms of exploitation under patriarchal capitalism.
It's important to understand that your experience is the slim minority. If the typical case were that it was work like any other job (i.e. not uniquely coerced) then we should of course consider it like other forms of wages labor and prioritize a rejection of the harmful social aspects surround it rather than the thing in itself as it usually exists. To attempt work to divorce it from its material roots in systemic capitalist misogyny (sex as a means of last resort for gendered economic violence, the escalation of proletarisn division via the establishment of misogynist mores and associations). I do appreciate efforts to destigmatize in isolation, it's important to work to divorce a socialist analysis of sex work from those exact mores socially ingrained to say it's wrong on puritanical grounds.
But this is not the typical case. The typical case is more extreme forms of coercion than face the typical wage workers in their own societies, and of course especially male wage workers. It more often is slavery than wage work. You likely deal most often with the most state legitimated forms. You likely also encounter some less state legitimated forms, wherein failure to comply with your boss's demands comes with a threat of direct physical violence or death. In that limited context it's easier to see a path forward through further legitimation and (always) industry expansion, i.e. attempt to turn a black market into one regulated explicitly by the state and ostensibly with identical worker protections as everyone else.
I do not of course know everything about your experience, but I would guess you work less often with those with stolen passports, with servants forced into unexpected sexual aspects of "employment" (again tied up in immigration or other legal status), with abused partners, with children.
I want to also note that there are principled communist orgs against the expansion of sex work and many are made up of or founded by sex workers. Some of the positions I'm sharing come directly from them.
Edit: I think I maybe wasn't clear so I just want to say your work in organizing sex workers is great and so is them being in your cadre. I also don't want to imply that you are simply "expansionist".
I think both can be true. I always like to imagine: If we had luxury-space-communism, would these sex-workers still be doing sex-work?
Some absolutely would be, some absolutely would not be. Based on vibes, I think most wouldn't, and that's a problem.
But I think the same can be said for accountants, or wait-staff, or most other professions. The problem is the "need to earn a living" that is pushed on people by society.
